It's a breath of fresh air having someone like Becker back in mayoral office and that Rocky is soooo OUT. I hope things will improve relations with Davis County because I have been living in Davis for 30 years and things were never as tumultuous as Rocky. It's refreshing for Becker to come into our county and repair things up!

I got cot in one of SLC's speed traps on Beck Street a few years back. I was having to gear up a little to get around a truck that was throwing rocks at me. The cop even acknowledged that was what I was doing but gave me a 5 mile over ticket nevertheless (quota and money grab, cost $92). Being the last of the big spenders, I have not bot a thing south of North Salt Lake since then. I seldom go the SLC and when I do I take a copy of the ten commandments and a hundred dollar bill but never break neither of them.

I have boycotted SLC ever since Rocky dis-invited Davis County residents from entering his lovely city. It will take me quite awhile to decide if Becker really isn't a Wolf in Rocky's clothing...especially after announcing his first agenda item is to promote and endorse homosexuality. Doesn't SLC have real city issues that need a mayor's attention? Good luck Becker.

It will take time to heal the wounds Rocky inflicted on Davis County leaders and residents. I'm glad to see Becker offer an Olive branch to his friends up North.

I have a solution for not getting "cot" in speed traps. Don't speed.

I am very content shopping in Davis county and finding everything I need without returning to SLC. It is such a parking space nightmare anyway.

I too have stayed away from Salt lake because of Rocky. He left such a terrible relationship that it might take time for the wounds to heal. I'll wait and see if Becker can make friends again with us before I shop there again. Good luck mayor.

1. The first line of the article caught my attention: "enemy territory". Way to go DN. But please, don't put more fuel to the fire. We are not the enemy. We just want to be respected.

2. I also fell in that 400W trap. Three lanes street don't have a 30mph limit. But I was glad to pay some back to the city since I am a telecommuter.

In a few words, I don't appreciate Rocky for the damage he did making those comments. We are not the enemy, we are not citizens of another country, not even a different state. I do hope things get solved soon for the benefit of everybody. After all, isn't this a civilized country?

Ralph's not done much, yet, to draw me back to SLC. His offer of SLC expertise to help the smaller municipalities seemed rather condescending.

It is appaling to me that one of Salt Lake County's main news organs should refer to Davis County as "enemy territory." However, after living under Rocky Anderson's unenlighten administration for 8 years, I am not surprised. I did not vote for Mayor Becker, but this act, symbolic though it was, goes a long way in restoring my confidence in Salt Lake City government. Well done, your Honor, keep it up!
Davis County Financial Boycott | 1:59 p.m. Jan. 17, 2008
For all of you that are saying that you oare boycotting Salt Lake in a financial manner, I just want to thank you for sending 10% of your income to Salt Lake in the form of Tithing. Our new malls are going to be awesome!!!

Love ya!

you wouldn't have the new malls if Pebble Anderson had his selfish and vain way. Besides, I believe there will be more residential than retail in those developments, so there's still no incentive to bypass the suburban malls with free parking for SLC's parking meters or pay lots.

FYI, the tithing funds are not used to finance the commercial enterprises of the LDS Church. Furthermore, the commercial entities pay property taxes and State & Federal income taxes.
