Why is it that so many of the state legislators and school districts seem to try
at every opportunity to make life difficult for educators. Jordan District chose
to enforce the GATB Law which reduced the retirement funds available to qualifed
teachers and administrators when other districts choose to take a wait and see
approach. The Voucher Bill was introduced in the last legistative session.
Thankfully, the citizens did not allow this bill to become a law. Now we have
legislators again trying to put their hands on retirement funds for educators.
Will it ever stop? People say that education is a priority in the state yet
districts and the legislature continue to try and alter, change, or remove
benefits that have been promised to educators. When will the governor,
legislature, and school districts remember who educated them.....teachers.
