Even a lawmaker who sought a ban on gifts got tickets

Self Serving Servants | 8:09 a.m. Jan. 12, 2008
I thought those legislators were supposed to be public servants. They are
supposed to be doing it out of civic pride and duty. Heck, if their intentions
are so pure they should do it for free. But the truth shows when a couple of
free concert tickets can buy them off. These folks are only there to serve
themselves. I got my eyes opened at the republican convention a few years ago.
Clean them out! All of them.

Got that right | 11:20 a.m. Jan. 12, 2008
"self serving servants" -- that's exactly the point: they're
not public servants. They only care about keeping themselves in office. Until we
have a very strict term limits law, this will continue happening. We had a term
limits law once, but they grandfathered themselves in and repealed the law
before it was to take effect. And they wonder why there's so much cynicism
and distrust of our elected officials. If they knew they were only going to
serve one or two terms, they wouldn't be campaigning the day they took
office and maybe they'd get something done. Throw them out! All of them.
