Mitt may have thought he was funny, but the woman who got the snide answer from him, decided that she would NOT support Mitt.
What hubris.
Plus, the more I hear him, the more I'm irritated by his strange speech patterns and voice that's almost screechy.
Reporters Notebook is one more example of the bias of Deseret Morning News editor Joe Cannon, former chairman of the Utah Republican Party. Since Cannon became editor last year, his staff has written and published on Page 1 73 stories that focused exclusively on Romney's presidential bid. Republican contenders mostly provide context. Democrats are mostly relegated to wire reports published inside the paper.
Cannon would probably attempt to justify his news blackout of other candidates by labeling Romney a "hometown boy" deserving of special consideration. After all, he shares the faith of many Utahns, has a plush vacation home at a posh Utah ski resort, and temporarily lived here a few years ago while he and others managed the Olympics.
But the Republican editor does a disservice to Utahns who believe that solid journalism and information voters need to make a responsible decision at the ballot box require coverage of more than one political perspective.
However much Cannon believes Utahns love Mitt, "hometown boy" is not a designation that will appear on ballots in the coming months - assuming Romney survives the next few primaries. Each name will have the same status.
It's too bad that you seem to base your vote on a candidate's looks, rather than his (or her) stance on issues.
You almost need a Ph.D. in psychology to understand the way people think and just what will get them to vote for you because it is obviously not their capabilities in politics. I ought to start collecting all of the ridiculously funny comments and put them in a scrap book to send to Mitt when he is elected president.
Do you honestly believe Mitt can win in states dominated by Evangelicals? Can any Republican win without a massive turnout of Evangelical Christians?
I think we all ought to let the DMN and Utah's Republicans gush over Mitt. It isn't going to last that long.
Who has more total votes?
A) The man who took second in Iowa and a strong Second in New Hampshire, and first in Wyoming.
B) The man who took first in Iowa then dissappeared in Wyoming, and dissappeared again in New Hampshire
C) The man who was a non factor in Iowa, then a non factor in Wyoming, then "won" New Hampshire
The moral of the story, this is a long way from over and Mitt has currently done better than any other candidate.
