goodbye | 4:36 p.m. Jan. 6, 2008
well it happend. the majority that voted rocky on office for 2 terms turned on him like a pack of wild dogs.

the rocky legacy is: more anti mormon, higher taxes, fewer business commitments, less services, low city morale, no important conventions, higher fees, ridiculous global warming claims, more san fransisco values, less tolerance, low cross city cooperation (Davis and Utah counties loathed the guy for trying to run thier cities) and a failure to allow downtown to grow without heavy handed government interference.

i wonder how long it will be before he tries to run for senate or govenor. hopefully never. as a utah native it would be horrid for this man to represent anything more than himself and his own ego.

as for SLC being more enlightend look at your voting districts and presincts they are deliberatley skewed to a democrats favor and have been for years.

you get what you pay for. remember that SLC

When a person like Rocky Anderson receives the majority of comments to the negative it speaks to the type of indivdual he is. Before I moved to Arizona from Utah(my beloved state) I felt sorry for Salt Lake City because of his negative and nasty persona. My feeling is he needs to go back into his past and deal with the demons that have caused him to become so sour toward the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He has to be a very unhappy man to be so selfish and self-centered. There are many people like him that voted him in unfortunately. You have to feel sorry for people like Rocky Anderson. They are frustrated and are volatile to a fault. I'm sure he has good in him as we all do but somehow the bad has taken precedence in his actions, words and example. What a shame!!!!Hopefully Mr. Becker will put the citizens of Salt Lake City first in his mind and will keep his personal dislike for others to himself instead of poisoning the minds of innocent citizens and accusing unjustly.
wow! | 4:57 p.m. Jan. 6, 2008
all you guys putting the guy down...he was no more volatile than church ball especially the second counselor! church--state..even the best that do get along have ripped off by being nice across the state using their position of trust..at least he wasn't convicted. And by the way isn't Missouri in someone's future plans..better get use to this.

A suggestion Rocky that if you're upset with Bush I'd bid you to head out to Venezuela or Ecuador and join the other Bush bashers! - Hugo Chavez style. You have been a big embarrasment to this state. Your reception of the President of the United States when he visited was an embarrasment. There was a time in this country when even if you didn't agree with the political leanings of the other party, that you respected their office and you shot that one. I had nothing to do with you getting elected, I would've given you the benefit of the doubt if I had, but you've just been horrible with respects to the things the others in this post have mentioned- If you get back on track in your life I wish you the best, otherwise I'd be sugar coating things if I were to wish you my best when you're unwilling to become your best. Good to see you go!

Thanks Rocky for keeping SLC like a "Little bit of Massachussetts". Just what we need here.

Now go get Bush/Cheney and get them to the Hague to have fair trials for war crimes.

What a sad commentary of one life of public service bringing contention to those he was trusted to serve!

What one thing that Bush and Anderson have in common?

They united the people becoming against their leader!

Now that Rocky is gone, I will be Happy to move back to Salt Lake City...

Wonder how quickly the city will improve. Hopefully the new mayor will be able to work with the city council and not just waste Utah's tax dollars in pompous arguing.

Finally, oh happy day! I hope that Becker does a lot better job than Rocky, oh wait, I know he will!

Boy, you people in SLC have sure looked stupid.

I'd be sleeping better tonight if I was you all.

Man am I glad he's gone. He's been a major joke. Good riddance.

Rocky Anderson,

you are a tool box!

but at least it can be said you are not the typical, kool-aid drinking, in the pocket of big money Leavitt-Huntsman type our state loves to elect for pubic office

thanks for at least balancing the scales

Soon we'll be rid of the worst leader in history. I understand that Rocky will be gone soon as well.

Yo, Rock! It was supposed to be an exhibition! Rocky Anderson, my friend, you have a unique style about you. I like that.
Ute in Iraq | 1:25 a.m. Jan. 7, 2008
It seems the majority of people who say hateful things about Rocky Anderson do not even live within SLC's boundaries. Mormon culture already controls the rest of the state's agenda. More progressive, urban citizens at least get to decide what happens in the capital.

As a liberal man living in a very conservative state I can appreciate how Rocky made SLC look less fanaticly conservative than everyone across the country thought. I travel across the country and am never embarrassed to tell people I live in Salt Lake City. But I would be completely timid of mentioning where I live if I lived in Utah County for example.

As with all political leaders, I did not agree what everything you did, Rocky. But I know you were up against major evangelical hurdles. Thank you for a great eight years!!
good riddance ! | 2:17 a.m. Jan. 7, 2008
Rocky A., just a thought... Cuba will soon need another "leader", and I think Fidel (and his fellow-dictator pal Hugo Chavez) would certainly approve of you, since you all are socialists, koolaid drinkers, and yes, members of the "blame America first" club. Your main "accomplishment" has been contention, and you've been an embarrasment to the city and state. Don't let the door hit your keester on the way out!!!
Hey Ute in Iraq | 9:31 a.m. Jan. 7, 2008
That comment about "up against major evangelical hurdles" is not only ignorant, but it also bites the hand that pays for the majority of down town SLC. Anderson was more than happy to have the churches money as long as he could spend it to his liking. Goes against common sense doesn't it?
Being over in Iraq, you of all the people on here should see that a tirant divides, controls, takes what is not his, and destroys public trust. The result may not be a physically destroyed city, but as you can read, just as damaged. It will take a lot of work to rebuild.
Mr. Demo | 9:06 p.m. Jan. 8, 2008
What an absolute waste of newsprint and reporters salaries. No, I didn't bother to read the article and yes, I'm a politically active democrat. Mayor Becker is a real breath of fresh air compared to Master Ross.
ediddy | 7:31 a.m. Jan. 10, 2008
Reading Mayor Anderson's comment under his picture attached to the article, "I love this city," makes me think that Cortez must have love the indigenous peoples of the new world as he pillaged their cities and destroyed their lives. Mayor Anderson never loved the city as much as he loved the forum it gave him to further his own personal agenda and impose his will upon the people.

People don't hate on Rocky he did a better job than ANYONE in all of Utah so dont be rude

"I love this city," says outgoing Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson. Anderson has been a polarizing figure in Utah politics.
