I agree with others who have commented that this article was not about the
winners, it was about Mitt loosing. By brother said his understanding it that
Mitt Romney was born in Mexico and therefore, he cannot run for President
because he was not born on U.S. soil.

So Huckabee won Iowa, No big surprise there. He won because he had a big
evangelical backing and they got out to vote. He is not the best qualified
candidate and will not win the nomination.
Romney lost because he did not have the strong backing of any one group, there are few LDS in Iowa. He is not the best qualified candidate and will not win the nomination.
Does being a Mormon play a big role for Romney in this election? YES! Right from the beginning weather the media played it up big or not it was going to be an issue. It shouldn't be but it is. We may be in the 21st century but a lot of the thinking(outside Utah, Idaho, Ariz)is still in the 19th century, fear, polygamy, secretiveness, clanishnes. Romney the candidate has just brought these and other issues to the surface and his answers to questions about the church have been far from adequate. No Mitt Romney will not win the nomination.

All, the SBC has made it their personal mission to tare down the Mormon faith.
I'm not sure any other religion has produced and published more anti-Mormon
literature. I think Huckabee entered the race solely on the fact that a Mormon
was leading the pack. The SBC could not allow a Mormon president. He is on a
personal crusade. I think he is a dangerous candidate, far more extreme in his
beliefs than even the most devout Mormon. Just go to www.sbc.net and type
"Mormon" in the search field. You will find out what Mr. Huckabee
thinks of Mormons. Has the LDS church ever published anti-'any
religion' anything?? Lets not forget their convention in SLC in 1998 where
he spoke. He doesn't have my vote.

After hearing Mitt Romney in a channel 4 interview saying, "I don't think God has spoken to anybody since Moses" - it seems to me he is doing a good job of tearing it down all by himself.

So the SBC is anti-mormon and Mitt is anti non-Christian (says he would not
appoint anyone to his cabinet who is Muslim and that freedom requires religion).
Religion is politics to Republicans and it is boxing them into a narrow corner
which excludes more and more Americans.
If Huckabee gets the nominations, how will it affect other Republicans running for office in Utah? Will he have negative coattails?

Lets be clear from a staunch Republican such as myself. If Huckabee wins the
nomination I will vote Democrat for the first time and believe all Utahn's
and Idahoans should do the same. Huckabee's campaign had a very negative
subtle directive against the religion of another and I won't vote for
someone who does that. Then in the end he said Romney was "Dishonest"
a million times and that is a frankly outright dishonest and personal attack.
No to Huckabee!

country.
Romney is certainly not the perfect candidate. He has made many missteps with flip-flops, exaggerations, negative ads, etc. But the KEY thing leading to his defeat was the evangelicals and Huckabee's pandering to them.
It is incredible to me that in the U.S. of 2007 there are still huge numbers of people who believe that a member of the LDS Church should be disqualified from serving as the President of this country.

Mitt Romney is the ONLY candidate with the brains to get this country back on
track... the results of one state filled with religious bigots does not make an

Personally, I seriously question either of these men's ability to lead our nation well and meet world-wide challenges; neither has much of a track record. No doubt though,if they become the front runners, the dollars and control will follow them as well.
