I agree with almost all that you have to say. I do however think that the state shouldn't do much to deal with illegal immigration. What is should do is get together with other states and pressure the federal government to get to work on a plan and enforcement. It should pressure our representatives to work on the necessary bills to make that happen. We as voters should reinforce the ideas by removing those who haven't done anything (that would be all of them, wouldn't it?)
The state should concentrate on removing corruption and influence (no gifts) and then get to work on the advanced planning (and funding).
No wonder it seems like Southern California.
No body wants to pay minimum wage in Utah. They whine and call that socialism. So presto! Cheap labor from Mexico. And lots of it.
Ever notice how few of those advocating for high density housing actually live in it? How many members of the DesNews Editorial board live in high density housing, or make use of mass transit on any regular basis? They LOVE imposing their ideas on the little guy. But they will keep their large homes and private yards and reserved parking spaces, won't they?
High density living is NOT healthy. It results in higher crime rates among other problems.
Most of us can't live a rural lifestyle. But with so much land in Utah, there is no reason except a refusal to build adequate roads or a desire to control people, to push for high density housing. And certainly no reason to impose it into the middle of traditional, stand alone home neighborhoods.
Junk envision Utah. Buy the home and lot you like and leave others to do likewise.
