I hate soccer, therefore I'm compelled to say that it's boring.
I envy it because THAT happens to be the most popular sport in the world, which is why I hate it.
Why couldn't our version of football, or our wonderful baseball have become the most popular globally?

aaarrrgghh, I SO hate soccer because of that!!

I think this sums up why a lot of you hate soccer. You don't understand it and you would prefer the world play games that you do understand.

Why not try to understand the world's game and get into the atmosphere instead of forcing ours on them?

Think about it. 5 billion people can't be wrong. Perhaps you are.

The main reason our version of football and baseball haven't caught on in most of the world is because they are derivative of the games of Soccer,Rugby and Cricket which ARE popular in most of the world. Since no one told us to go out and make up new silly rules for Cricket and Rugby then it's our own fault that the NFL and Major League baseball have trouble competing with Soccer, Rugby and Cricket.

The NBA and basketball have had it slightly better and the sooner the NBA plays by FIBA rules the better basketball will be adopted.

To Motorcraft Ute: First of all, you can't compare attendance for a team with a 72 game home schedule compared to an 16-18 game home schedule. Secondly, the Bees have drawn over 450,000 every season, so while they don't average over 9,000 per game like they did the first three seasons, they are still a strong entity.

I appreciate the fact that Utahns are entitled to their own world views and opinions, but have the anti-'soccer' brigade on here any conception of how ridiculous they sound to the other 5.7 billion people on this planet of ours?

Just for fun, how can you possibly have a 'World' Series in baseball?

Get real folks!

I for one would love RSL to succeed and MLS in general take advantage of the huge global success of football (not American Football, I mean Association Football). America loves money and there's more in football than just about any other spectator sport!

In Utah, both the E Center and Franklin Covey Field were built with taxpayer assistance.

In the April 2001 issue of The Regional Economist, writer Adam M. Zaretsky addresses the issue of building arenas and stadiums for pro teams.

[In Utah, both the E Center and Franklin Covey Field were built with taxpayer assistance..... Since World War II, the article states, approximately 140 sports facilities have been built or refurbished; only 14 DID NOT use taxpayer dollars.]
