THis is insane. Why are we destroying our state from every angle possible. Now we are going to start ripping up the land to use an incredibly inneficient process to get more oil to polute our state, and all the while we are now going to import nuclear waste from foreign countries and propose making our own nuclear power plants here. Someone pleas tell me why we are not exploring solar power. It's now CHEAPER than oil without the harmful impacts of nuclear, oil, or coal. Not to mention all of the health problems we ALL pay for now with air polution and the future problems from nuke waste. This stinks!

Save Our State needs to look outside in the evening to see that the sun shines for less than half of the day, but I do agree with him about our fixation on oil. In addition wind and solar take up huge amounts of land space, and finally they take as much or more subsidy than does nuclear.

Nuclear power will be the power source of the future. Nuclear waste storage is a problem in the United States only because we lag far behind on re-processing technology, probably because it is cheaper to create nuclear fuel from our plentiful supply of uranium. However, our major problem stems from our out dated paranoia. It is time to move on just as the rest of the advanced nations already have. France for example produces over 75% of its electrical needs with nuclear power.

BLM should rule out oil shale or tar sands leasing on any lands that were found to have wilderness character. Those are under consideration for permanent protection, in the interest of Utahns and Utah's tourism economic engine.
