Leavitt is very good at giving out a lot of Bull as he did while our governor. This is nothing more than a effort to reassure us that the Communist country of China is going to obey any laws of the U.S., not. Another rubber stamp claim to care for the american people is all it amounts to. Who are they going to fine? The Chinese government? Only the american businesses will be affected and they aren't a problem to begin with. These so called fines should include the removal and destruction of any product found unsafe coming in to our country from abroad, then they will get the message. The financial losses would be fines enough and send a real message. Leavitt is a joke and puppet to commerce who speaks with a forked tounge. Don't believe a word he says and any inspections will be non enforceable or cause any interuption of China killing americans. The american people just need to stay away from any product from China. It's the only message that will make any improvements to our consumer safety and welfare. Our government has proven it does not care about consumers and the american people.

We can stop buying Chinese products just like we stopped buying foreign oil. The horse is allready out of the barn, it's to late to close the gate. As long as we have politicians like John Edwards, who are determined to shut down all American bussiness, thing will continue to get worse.

Having worked with Leavitt while he was Governor in Utah, I choose to differ with Bob G on strength's of the Governor in his current U.S. Government position.
Mike Leavitt among other positives, always checked his facts and worked for the best interests of all of the people. He has great mental strength and has solid values, something we find lacking in so many government workers. Get to know him Bob and you might have a change of heart.
