West bench — Property might give Salt Lake County tax, jobs windfall

Accordıng to my calculation, all thıs growth will actually occur by the year 2065. i thınk whoever dıd thıs projection ıs overly optomistic. Don't forget to factor in global warming and the offset cost for each homes carbon footprint. This could mean millions of dollars spent to offset greenhouse gases. Also projected by 2080 ıs a democrat wıll wın the office of the utah state govenor. These will be great times. I can hardly wait.

Developement of the kennecott mountain should be done with reservations and caution as there is a lot of contamination to the land there. Along with the fact that much of this land is prone to land slides and mudslides. It should not be developed as dense housing and careful planning by the county and city governments, not the developers who could care less about the safety and quality of homes they build.

I know there is perhaps some contamination on some land, but the vast majority of the land has not been touched. I have not heard anything about mudslides or landslides and I live near there. Looking at what they have done so far (Daybreak), Kennecott Lands seems pretty responsible to me.

According to my calculation, all this growth will result in air that is positively toxic and traffic that is absolutely impenetrable. How about leaving the west bench as open space? There is plenty of room in the already developed areas of Salt Lake County for in-fill and higher-density re-development.

As a resident of South Jordan I am now glad that the eastside residents decided to leave the district. Now all of the revenue from the new developments on Kennecott land will go to my schools instead of rebuilding theirs!

How about all you people that keep complaining about the development of land and over population and global warming hysteria, move to a country where the government owns the land and controls everything. That way those of us who love America and appreciate that owning private property is a constitutional right, can enjoy prosperity and growth without having to hear from a bunch of negative naysayers complaining about everything under the sun.

The suburbs are growing because the population is growing. All the kids in Utah need to live somewhere as they become adults. They all can't live in SLC. To complain about the growth of the suburbs while having many kids is a bit disingenuous. If you don't want the suburbs to grow, limit the amount of kids you have.

But that is not going to happen. People will keep having many children, necessitating the growth of the suburbs. May as well create nice suburbs.
