Roads snow-free? UDOT army on job

You should be in Montreal, Canada, where we have had 2 storms & the cost so far has been $20 million &
we are in the midst of another with 20-25 inches to come down in the next 24 hours & it is not officially winter yet.
With 3000 personnel & 2500 piece of machinery, we learn to cope
Do we have a choice!

UDOT, what happened in AF/Pleasant Grove on State Street this past Thursday late afternoon/evening? It had been lightly snowing for two hours at below freezing temperatures. The result was black ice. Cars were sliding all over the place, and I saw several cars skid off the road about a 100 yards in front of me. The city streets were better than this major UDOT highway!

I sure appreciate the work these guys do. I wish they could guarentee there was NO snow EVER on the road, but I understand that isn't a reality...at least not yet!

UDOT does and EXCELLENT job in avalanche control and plowing to keep the canyons open for the reckless skiers speeding up the roads to get to fresh powder.

UDOT does the highways, not the city streets.

Anyone that complains about the highways in Utah needs to learn to drive! Try somewhere else that does not have the budget that Utah puts into the roads. Your freeways are clear and dry an hour after the snow stops. During the storm these guys work hours I would not like and they do it all without accidents or problems. They are professionals and work hard. How about getting out of their way once in a while or expressing some appreciation for a job well done. UDOT does a fantastic job! By the way--C grade--maybe you should get out of Happy Valley once in a while. Would you like them to shovel your driveway too?Maybe they were keeping the freeway deiced and didn't have time to plow your segment of state street yet. I got an idea--how about you get some traction tires and learn to drive in the snow--or are you one of the "chosen ones" from California. GREAT JOB PLOW DRIVERS--KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

Quit slamming C-grade. He identified a real problem that was not addressed. Traction tires and "learning to drive in the snow" don't work on black ice. Your ego will result in a crash yet.
