This is a sad case of a battered woman. This man should be so lucky to get jail time and not be punished the same way he did the woman. He should also be deported after he has paid his debt to society. Women are NOT objects or animals to be treated in such a cruel manner. If only the judge would lock him up and "throw away the key." It will take years for the woman to heal and feel like a real person again.

Here is another example of an illegal doing illegal things.

Call me paranoid if you want but this is a bigger problem than many would care to admit.

The US is a melting pot not a dumping ground for criminals.

Attention Presidente Calderon; keep your dregs in Mexico!

Or maybe the US could have a similar approach and send busses loaded with lifers from our prison system to live in Mexico City.

Grow up. Most of the people who come to this country (whether legally or not) are just looking for a better life. They work hard and contribute to society.

Using your same logic, my Latino neighbor scraped off my windshield this for me this week. I guess all Latinos are good.

Your problems with illegals are only beginning. Those of us residing in border states see such examples of bizarre lawlessness all the time. We are way beyond drive-by shootings here. Unfortunately, lawlessness is rampant in parts of Mexico, and they bring this attitude with them Not all, of course, but more that we should be subjected to.

Michaelitos: All due respect, EVERY SINGLE PERSON who comes here illegally has already committed at least one crime, simply by crossing the border. YES that makes all of them, --every single one-- a criminal.

But really, how can we expect them, having already broken our laws, to instantly become law-abiding, productive members of society once they're here? Honestly?? They're not willing to stay in their own countries and be productive citizens there by working to improve the societies they do not like, and they're willing to break our laws. So why do we expect something different from them once they're here?

The logic just doesn't stand up to reason.

This article says the boyfriend was in the house but then it says they arrested him at his job. They didn't really let him go until later did they?

Also, I doubt this guy was her boyfriend. He abducted her.

I don't know why Sen. Bill Hickman is wrong. Perhaps he is just innately stupid, or perhaps he's a bigot. Maybe he's half blind, and can only see the jingoistic side of the argument. Perhaps he thinks that the Hickman family have always been Americans or that they jumped through a lot of difficult hoops to get to America, like getting passports and visas and affidavits of support and on and on.

I'll have to defer to someone who knows him personally to explain why he is so wrong. But, that he is wrong is clear to all right-thinking people.

the commentors with Hispanic surnames believe that it is ok for ILLEGAL aliens to come here? How about the cost to tax payers to warehouse them? ILLEGALS make up about 30% of the prison population. How much of the school budgets to they take, welfare with their stolen ID's? Medical care?

When will we start enforcing the laws against ILLEGAL aliens? When will we start taking actions against the businesses the hire them? They can walk back to Mexico, just as the walked into the U.S. Take away jobs and they have no reason to stay.

It seems in my point of view that the majority of these illegals. (Not all) Are coming from a corrupt nation and coming here carrying that same corrupt mind with them. I see storys like these EVERYDAY caused by obvious illegals EVERYDAY!!!

After years of hearing horrible story after horrible story, and still being disgusted by each one, I find in hindsight that every nationality has it share of "nasties". You can find perfect examples to prove your point for the evilness of people, where ever they are from... including Americans should you wish to ask victims from other places. I say; thank heaven he was caught and now, since the crime was perpetrated within our boundaries, punish him to the highest degree we can (after finding him "guilty", of course) and then send him back to where he legally belongs and let them "counsel" him.

What's really bothering me is that the media buries the fact that he's an illegal. CNN didn't even mention that. This article puts that info at the end and still doesn't use the term "illegal". If we had complete information, we would be able to decipher just how much crime is attributed to illegals, but the media doesn't want us to be that informed! (30% according to boarder patrol agent above, that's huge! and costly!) We need better and higher standards for the media, like what the Sarbanes Oxley act is to public companies, a new reform standard should be set for the media, and they should be audited on just how much they are printing is true, misleading, or left out of their reporting! Make them accountable for once so that we citizens can make the right decisions!

Mr. Orozco-Trevizo is facing a Federal 20-yr sentence right now for being a previously deported felon. The immigration detainer placed on him indicated that it was for aggravated re-entry which means that he was already convicted in the past for a felony. We can all hope that he is convicted for the kidnapping and assult and sentenced to life then after he serves his 20 in state prison he then
starts his 20 year federal term. Kia is right, EVERY illegal alien here in the US is a criminal. Once they cross Illegally, they steal identities, buy false documents, obtain work illegally and basicly support a huge industry of criminals who continue to bring in illegal aliens. The only way to stop this invasion is to deny them the ability to work. VERRIFY ALL SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS!!

Yes, every nation and every ethnic group has it's share of evil people and crazy people. I haven't read anyone claiming otherwise. But because of that fact, the US already has all the criminals we need. It's not practical to deport every illegal but we should deport any illegal who commits a crime (including serious traffic offences) and have enough control of the border that they can't get back in.

Think about it for a minute, people. If you are a doctor or a lawyer in Mexico, would you come to US illegally to work low paying jobs? Illegal immigrants consist of a very specific population... the kind of population that do NOT thrive in their native nations. They come here because the crappy lives they lead here is still better than their lives back home. That tells you something about the nature of the illegal immigrants and their home nations.

Make an example of this guy. He is in this country against our laws, breaking our laws! How would it be if we turned OUR law breakers loose on Mexico? Congress has passed the law to put up a wall. The Bush administration is dragging its feet. WHY? I voted for him twice because I thought he would actually do something about this problem. This is a joke. What is going on here? Give him a fair trial, then deport him whatever the verdict. Make sure the Mexican government puts him away for a very long time with a chain long enough so that he can relieve himself, but not practice his sadistic ways on other prisoners. Hmm-- I'm sure the male population in Mexican prisons is not very different from the male population in a US prison. Being chained to an engine block might even be sort of "kinky" for some. Hey, the "good book" says "an eye for an eye."

The people who imply that those who are here illegally are the root cause of crime in this country had better wake up to the fact that the majority of crime in the US is committed by US CITIZENS. And FYI - A foreign-sounding last name is NOT an indicator of immigration status. Give me a freakin' break.

The focus of this article, for those boneheads who missed it, is that the woman was abused. The focus is about DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. I pray that this woman is able to live her life with some measure of happiness and normality. Thank God for the neighbor who saved her.
