Logan and St. George are highly 'secure'

It should be noted that Logan does not have a homeless shelter and just gives homeless people a bus ticket to Salt Lake. Logan indeed is a safe place but partially because it pushes it's problems off on others.

I thought SLC pushed theirs on to Vegas.

I say send them all to New York and let Hillary show how much she loves them.

We don't need the outcasts and evil homeless people here in Logan. If you are homeless and reading this, please go to SLC, where there are plenty of square meals (i.e. saltines) waiting for you and a warm bed (newspapers).

If you're homeless and reading this, well, then lucky you because at least you have the internet. Now get up and go to SLC!

Congratulations to these communities. They should be complemented not belittled here. You may snipe at what they are doing, but it appears to be working.

Wow, good attitude Jerry. Sometimes sarcasm just isn't funny. Kudos to Whatever Works with the Hillary comment. I went to school at USU and would love to live in Logan again *if* the right opportunity presented itself.

Hillary will Save US! | 11:45 a.m. Dec. 11, 2007
And so will all of the democrats running for the top spot. If the Socialists, oops, I mean Democrats get control of the White House in '08 I predict that these most livable/safe community polls will become least offensive ghettos to be assigned. Of course any location in the US that is identified as quality (whatever that means) will be targeted by the government for reorientation. Anyone who is happy/safe/content/self-reliant must be evil!

I live in Cache Valley and its nice most of the time. Most of the locals here are a little agitated or mildly concerned about the influx of "outsiders." It seems they are more or less equally upset about Californians, Hispanics, and apparently the homeless. The crime rate is low.... But it has not stopped the Police force from doubling every so often. They shamelessly "shotgun" traffic around the few bars and hassle those in the counter culture. Im a little surprised St. George is in the top ten. My car was broken into the last time I was there.

Logan, what? | 12:18 p.m. Dec. 11, 2007
Logan is a secure place, but it's not very healthy. Logan has the worst air quality of any city in the world.

Logan what. You have evidently never been to San Bernadino. Try it sometime. It will change your outlook a lot!
Logan is a great place. They sponsor the beggest car show in the state every July 4th. St. George is great in the winter, but WAY too hot for summer.

I left my keys in my truck parked in Logan last night hoping it would be stolen. It was. Merry Christmas!

Just my luck. I live in one of the safest towns in the country and still had my car stolen right out of my carport. At least there was no surprise that they found it in the Carl's Jr. Parking lot in West Valley (mother of all crimes). I guess the guys needed a burger. I do appreciate the two rap cd's that they left behind. Many thanks.

I've driven through both Logan and St. George, and was not mugged, robbed, stabbed, shot at, or hasseled in any way. Logan will stay that way, but with continued growth, you Dixie folks can kiss your tranquility goodbye. Please enjoy it while you can--you're an easy target for undesirables from SoCal, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Hermasillo, and Mexico City.

To: Logan, what? 12:18

Your comment on Logan having the worst air quality anywhere the world is not really the truth, but rather repeating sensational headlines and inaccurate statements by people that talk about things they don't know anything about (like you just did). You may be referring to the one day a couple years ago that a faulty measuring device showed the air quality as much worse than it actually was and all the news stations sent their people up here to Logan to cough in front of the camera and show how bad it was, but then when they found out the sensor wasn't calibrated right, the story just kind of quietly went away.

There are days during the winter where the air quality is really bad with the inversions, yes, but I wouldn't go anywhere close to saying we have the worst air quality in the world. 50 weeks out of the year the air quality is great. The water here is great. The traffic isn't bad as long as you stay away from main street during rush hour (or better yet, ride the free busses). Plus it's the safest metro area in the country.

I grew up in Logan and remember the cold winters. I don't miss that at all. However, sorry Provo people, Logan has the most beautiful canyon in Utah during the Fall.

I spent time as a college student in St. George and trust me unless you're over the age of 50 living in the most secure place in America is not a good thing. That place felt like a prison. I almost got arrested for "illegal distribution of alcohol to minors" because I was in the same house as minors who were drinking, and I was sober. I've never seen so many bored cops.

Hey Byron,
You should be glad they were there for underage drinking and not a homicided. Bored cops might mean a safe place. If you don't like it, go to LA or Vegas, somewhere with more to do and a higher...substantially higher crime rate.
