Although I often find myself strongly disagreeing with Paul T. Mero's published positions, I believe he is absolutely right on about conflicts of interest and legislator ethics.

Transparency and accountability are crucial in all matters concerning the public trust.

Since when do government employees have conflicts of interest? They are the only ones who DON'T have conflicts of interest.

I agree with Utah Republican.

Just because a government employee in office has the power to appropriate money to their own organization for personal reasons, to manipulate work related schedules, requirements or certifications or to increase their own benefits and compensation shouldn't necessarily constitute a conflict of interest.
