I've never been an alcoholic and I've never been addicted to prescription meds. I think things through, and I don't engage in ad hominem attacks. I guess I have no future as a talk radio host.
True America is in the middle | 4:09 p.m. Dec. 3, 2007
Well that is certainly a nice story, but these "I've been saved" stories are nothing new.
I've heard stories of mass-murderers in the slammer telling us how they too have been saved.

But Beck is way less combative than conservative guru Limbaugh, so I am willing to give him a chance.

If the guy is really on the ball he'll find a good middle-ground and there is where true America is.
BenGleck | 4:31 p.m. Dec. 3, 2007
Beck is a babbling idiot with the worst ratings on CNN.Anyone who actually believes anything said by a talk radio host is a complete idiot as well. Literate people know how to read, rather than to sit with an ear pressed to a speaker nodding their heads in agreement to an uninformed buffoon who spouts his anti-science and xenophobic garbage from his little perch.

I was turned on to GB by my cousin who's conservatism makes Rush Limbaugh look like a liberal. I told him I hate Rush and he said I would love GB. I do. He is a principles based thinker. Almost all of his opinions are based on the constitution and he thinks our country is being destroyed by partisanship and politics. I agree. If you hate GB, you either don't listen enough or you are a socialist. Wake up america, your freedoms and sovereignty are being sold by your politicians!
I'll listen - to a point | 5:00 p.m. Dec. 3, 2007
I have made it a practice to give a person his due
(Even professional political pundits).

I will respectfully listen to what they have to say, but when their voice goes up an octave or two, become emotional and excited, or the least bit aggressive, that is the tip-off for me to bid them adieu.

It's just a personal dignity thing.

First I want to say that I admire Glenn. What is most interesting to me is that he is challenging the "politically correct". GOOD! We need that. We need a president that will do that as well. I am so sick of everyone trying to say the right thing so we dont offend certain groups of people. And because of that, we have lost our values in this country and become divided.

This country needs to realize that united we stand and divided we will fall! Does anyone know the history of Rome? We are on the same path. Doesn't that scare anyone out there?

You know, we ask God to bless this country in our prayers. How long do you think thats going to last with the way we disreguard him everyday? What happened to Christmas, now its "Holiday" Come on people, stand up for what you believe in, who cares who it offends. Someday when things are really bad, you'll wish you had.

God bless those who aren't trying to line their pockets by taking advantage of the people of this country. Just something for all of us as "Americans" to think about.
BenGleck | 5:49 p.m. Dec. 3, 2007
Boo hoo, pity the poor persecuted majority. I feel so SORRY for you that someone doesn't wish you a Merry Xmas, your life is SO hard and it's complete proof the country HATES Xmas and hates Christianity.

More proof of the complete ignorance of the Glen Beck crowd.
odd heroes | 6:33 p.m. Dec. 3, 2007
Nobody ever said the country had any shortages of stupid frightened people with heroes such as Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter, and now Beck.

I've given up hope on these poor souls.
A Fan by Accident | 7:06 p.m. Dec. 3, 2007
I started listening to Glenn years ago while getting ready for work. My other choice was Dr. Laura. Ugh!!! Glenn grew on me. It took me a while because he is an unique individual and I like that in people. It's obvious the people that are naysayers on here haven't listened long enough to even know what he's all about except that he's CONSERVATIVE!!! I call that pure ignorance. I listen to both sides because if I didn't I'd be ignorant myself. As I've said before regardless of your political leanings the guy has an infectious way about him. His self-deprecating ways and his sense of humor along with many other things have obviously had some effect on people. He has the the number ONE selling book right now in addition to a top ranked radio show and a TV show. That's doesn't happen if there aren't people that like him.
negative society | 8:25 p.m. Dec. 3, 2007
Beck is the same as Limbaugh was with his non-stop "liberals are the devil" nonsense.
Give Beck some time and he'll be just as nasty and divisive as Limbaugh.

Sad commentary on our society isn't it?
Rich | 8:37 p.m. Dec. 3, 2007
Good job, Doug Robinson. Some writers like to sweep any talk of God under the table when reporting what your source says is true journalism at its finest.
Judy | 9:44 p.m. Dec. 3, 2007
Lori, Glenn Beck DOES NOT HATE HISPANICS> HE JUST wants people to come here LEAGALLY. You must think it's okay to break the law and come into AMerica illeagally. Are you an Illeagal Hispanic?
SRS in AZ | 9:46 p.m. Dec. 3, 2007
I think its funny that libs will preach so much about not hating people and I see on this post all the "hate beck" speak coming from them. There is hate from both sides. At least some of us conservatives will admit to hating. I hate the liberal behavior that is destroying America. I hate that many in politics (both sides) tear down the constitution in order to hold on to power. I believe though imperfect Mr. Beck is a good guy. I'd be proud to call him friend. I would just like to see someone try to protect the Constitution for a change.
Ogrepete | 11:33 p.m. Dec. 3, 2007
My wife and I are surely looking forward to the Christmas show on December 8th. :)
The changes should tell you | 6:19 a.m. Dec. 4, 2007
No "SRS" -
It isn't "liberal behavior that is destroying America." That is the neocon nonsense being spread by the Limbaughs and his clones using fear and hatred as they did in fascist Germany and Italy.
And thank God, these angry, confused types are in a shrinking minority.
The non-stop changes in our political climate should tell you this.
the fools have not noticed | 11:25 a.m. Dec. 4, 2007
The saddest part is, that those ensconced in the old divide-and-conquer game (in this case "conservatives are #1 and Liberals suck")
have yet to notice that the powers that be have them right where they want them. Arguing with each other while the powers go merrily about their business running the country into the ground while they make obscene profits.

Trust Robinson to glorify such a narrow-minded idiot. The two have something in common.

Is this young man available for adoption? He is a rare jewel.
WOW! | 10:16 a.m. Dec. 5, 2007
I love how most of the people on this site just give out hate. Glenn Beck is imperfect and he fully admits it. You don't have to agree with his opinions, that's why they are opinions. This was a great article and made me proud to be associated in the same religion with such a real person. A lot of you could learn a lot from Beck. "Just let go, and relax."
Anonymous | 11:37 a.m. Dec. 5, 2007
There are those types who are quite nasty about their opinions (it's now what you say - its HOW you say it) and when caught red-handed give you the "I'm sorry" routine (It's a neocon trait).
Beck will do that.
Beck Fan | 10:28 p.m. Dec. 5, 2007
Too bad there are so many hate mongers out there. Glenn Beck is NOT a hate monger. He is not against immigration - just illegal immigration. He is FOR the constitution - not against it as so many politicans today are - they are trying to destroy it - do away with it. All your hate speaches just show your ignorance and the fact that you haven't REALLY listened to Glenn Beck. You go, Glenn Beck, you're a THINKER and we need more thinkers = less hate mongers. I listen to his radio show and his TV show and have for quite some time, and I see NOTHING to deserve all these hate speaches. Get a life and do something good for a change. The world is in desperate needs for goodness and less hate. I met Glenn Beck at a political dinner, and he gave the most patriotic speach I have heard in years. He is NOT a republican, but a consservative and an AMERICAN. We need mroe people like Glenn Beck!!!!!
children | 9:32 a.m. Dec. 6, 2007
Why is it that if a person has an alternate political point of view, the Neocons start screaming "you must hate ______ (fill in the blank)"?
Unbelievably childish behavior.
Anonymous | 9:50 a.m. Dec. 6, 2007
Beck is just another Neocon clown trying to divide the country in two.

I could be wrong, but I think "nottyou" may be a teecher, er ... teacher.
Lots and lots of didactic stuff going down nowadays.

Excellent article. Enjoyed reading about the "real" Glenn Beck, although I think at one time or another I've heard all of this through his radio and tv shows. It's nice to know he's the same in person as he seems to be on his shows - a bit frenetic! I have always enjoyed his weird sense of humor and get a kick out of his Friday radio show.

His tv shows are entertaining and informative and present the political world in a way that makes me want to listen and not scream (too much any way!).

Thanks Glenn for not being afraid to present yourself in such a real way. We need more people who are willing to look at themselves honestly and try as hard as you obviously do to improve a little more everyday.
Claudia Olson | 11:09 a.m. Jan. 17, 2008
I loved his Christmas show in SLC and his conversion story afterwards. What great courage you have to have today to stand up for your beliefs. I was very touched by his testimony and story. I listen to his show everyday and I agree with him 99% of the time. I am so glad that someone out there is representing the views of a true American. Thanks Glenn for all you are doing to present the voice of those of us who believe in the Constitution and America.

To everyone who's saying that Glenn Beck is short on facts:

Who isn't?

There's no such thing as a voice without flaws. If we all knew and considered every detail about everything, nobody would need to have opinions. Ever.

And Radio, you're 100% right about liberals. If you agree with them, you're taking part in the Great Democracy, and if you disagree, you're hateful. Nice.
Linda | 10:59 p.m. Feb. 29, 2008
I truly enjoyed this article about Glenn Beck. Thank you for giving us additional insight to this "real" man. He's not a perfect person, but who is? Glenn Beck is a mere mortal trying to to do the best he can. The guy is trying to make a difference in our world. I can't fault him for that.

Glenn Beck, thank you for your efforts to help our country and its people. You've come a long way, so give yourself some credit! I admire and respect you for the man you are, and the man you are trying to become!

On a TV program about two weeks ago Glenn was interviewing the CEO of BP. The CEO said out oil problem was due to that we were importing 85 Million barrels of oil per day but using 86.4 Mil. bar of oil per day. The next day on his radio program Glenn said that we are using 87 Mil brls of oil per day. Quite an exgaterration. I still enjoy and listen every day on 103.9 and watch on TV when possible.

So...you talk about Glenn Beck being short on facts...yet NEVER give us an example. I suspect it is you who is short on facts. If Glenn, or Limbaugh, or Savage were "making stuff up" to get ratings they would last as long as Air America...not long. There is one big difference between right wing listeners and left wing listeners...we think. We don't partake in the party cool aid like leftists. We think. I will not listen to a liar. If Glenn Beck was "making stuff up" I'd know it, and would never tune in.

It is you who is making unsubstantiated charges. It is you doing what you accuse others of doing...which of course, is typical left wing tactics. Bill and Hillary are the masters at it.
John | 10:28 p.m. July 25, 2008
Glenn Beck should be removed from America and along with George Bush and the rest of the neo-conservatives should find their special place in hell which they so richly deserve. Their deceitfulness, ignorance and arrogance are attaining new heights every day.

It is clearly stated that the Godless that do not believe in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, can not and will not see truth. That is why the Godless left believes the facist propaganda they so hate-filledly defend, and the righteous right is confident and comfortable in the truth they are willing to die for. It's simple: the left is almost always wrong (on everything - politics, the environment, spiritual issues, family issues, science, .....just so wrong that almost everything that comes out of their mouths are lies, even though they can not distinguish between a lie and a truth. You know....Godless); and the right is almost always correct (on everything - politics, the environment, spiritual issues, family issues science, ...just common sense and truth. Clearly distinguishing between a lie and a truth. You know...Godly).

Glenn Beck if you cared as much about the UNITED STATES as you do about your own personal gain, you would vote for OBAMA.
Marc Smilen | 2:55 p.m. Sept. 13, 2008
somebody called Glenn fair to both sides. Not true. Glenn wants honest debate as long as the liberal side shuts up and agrees with the conservatives. Mass. voters have kept Ted Kennedy in office for how long? 30 years? 40 years? Kennedy spoke on the Senate Floor about something called popcorn lung. Apparently its some sort of industrial hazard in popcorn factories. Silly name. But its apparently a legit problem. Iraq and oil and defense and the top issues dont take up every second of a politicans time 24/7, 365 days a year. Kennedy sincerely is dedicated to the issues of his state and nation. Its a free country. COnservatives dont have to agree with Kennedys political agenda. Glenn attacked Kennedy for spending time on popcorn lung. Its a legit issue, and Glenn probably spent more time on it than Kennedy did. Glenn does ignore a lot of facts. Hes a religious zealot. Hes a hypocrite. I dont have enough space for the criticisms and malice I feel toward Glenn.

I'm pretty sure this is meant to allow comments on the article, not to pass judgment. There are a lot of you that I honestly hope are not Mormon, because you do such a poor job of representing charity and love. Typical- The Utah Mormons goofing everything up for everyone else

Glenn- You are a breathe of fresh air! I think your "GREAT". I love your mannerisms. Being a midwest conservative, I thorougly agree with you most of the time. Keep up the good work and God Bless you.
Keep on Keepin On! | 8:22 p.m. March 28, 2009
Glenn..you are an enlightening voice for us in this critical time for our country and the world. You
make us THINK...none of us have the answers but together we can join ranks and be a force to fight against the evil and corruption that seems to have built a great movement towards destroying all that
our forefathers fought so hard to set up for our
nation. Keep up the forward thinking and I am very proud to know Glenn Beck!

Another baby boomer loudmouth tearing the country apart.

I am very sorry for whatever you people did to each other in the 70s but my generation was not involved.

My generation came of political age during the bush years, years in which if you disagreed with the government talking heads like Beck and the rest of the Fox News crew called you a communist, said you hated America and hated the troops.

I suspect my generation will become disillusioned with the democrats as well but we will not turn back to the republican party. I am hoping for a post-partisan revolution which doesn't call it's adversaries Hitler and doesn't elect demagogues.
