Making a better Glenn Beck
144 comments | Read story
Genn is a son of God who is fully aware of his imperfections...
And yet he is successful, maybe it is becose many of us actually listen to more then just a show... and becouse many of us are not envious of him enough to want to tare him down...
I am envious of him, but I am Glad to know he exists and that he is doing well, becouse that give me hope... for all of the rest of us.
I agree that he is short on facts sometimes.
However, he consistently opens the floor to experts in the particular field that he is addressing, after he sets forth is opinion on the subject. And they either contradict him or confirm what he says. So though he may have his facts wrong, he gives another individual a chance to contradict him. And often, they agree with what he says.

Beck does much good in the world and is someone to be admired.
some people have the oddest heroes today.
But he has also discovered what Rush, O'Reilly and the rest of the "talking heads" have discovered: loud, opinionated, mean-spirited, and contrversial ramblings lead to wealth and fame. You don't have to be right - in fact, a good lie will really get the ol' ball rolling and people calling in -you just have to be loud, opinionated and clever.
It is stand-up comedy - not serious or meaningful dialog. Serious and meaningful are death to this crowd. Loud and angry makes more money and gets more listeners.
I turned him off a long time ago.
Like "Now I see" I was stunned by Becks comment about George Bush being somewhat like Lincoln. Yet I recall a comment by a good friend (a Democratic strategist from Arizona who is not unfamiliar with Washington DC events) who sat with George Bush in his box during a Texas Rangers game 8-9 years ago. He told me then that one-on-one, Bush was one of the most intelligent and fascinating people he had met. Although I doubt I would ever vote for Bush again, he may not be the total dufus he appears to be. Does Glen Beck have all the answers--No. Is he always right--No. Who is? But I appreciate his approach, and that unlike all the other prominent conservative voices, he is not an apologist for the Republican Party.
Beck's show is always short on facts but heavy on bluster and hostility.
And, no Emmett, just because I'm critical of somebody doesn't mean I secretly envy him. I do not. Just so you know, "becose" is spelled "because."
This is just one more of the AM radio fearmongers, building an industry of demonising those with whom he disagrees, and making enemies of them. Our society is polarised like never before, and these guys are the wedge. You can never go broke appealing to fear, or by insulting people, that's for sure.
Opinion, of course, is not fact but not necessarily wrong. Questioning something that has long been held as fact is not being "factless."
I admire a man who recovers from what was obviously a private hell to try and do some good in the world. We need more Glenn Becks.
And anyone Keith Olbermann takes such steps to denigrate continually has to be a good man.
Go Glenn, on CNN!!
"If you had listened to Glenn consistently you would know that he is fair towards people on both sides of the isle. He is the needed voice of moderation that says. Who cares about the political parties, look at what we need to do to improve the world. It is very sad that you would attack the voice of moderation because you heard of a positive comment about somebody you don't like."
Great conversion story covered. Thanks again...
I really enjoyed this article, and found it inspirational. Its nice to read about someone who's trying to be better, even if he often feels unsuccessful at it.
Glen Beck is part of Conservative hate machine? Only liberrals call opposing views hate.
Then about 2 weeks later he went off about the "America-hater" Rosie O'Donnell. I stayed tuned to see if he was joking, but no, he wasn't. I mean, she is annoying and obnoxious and all, but doesn't saying that make him a blantant hypocrite? A blatant hypocrite who KNOWS he's a hypocrite? That completely turned me off and I haven't watched him since
I've watched the nightly news and read the weekly news magazine periodicals since elementary school, and it's a breath of fresh air to find voices in the media that don't paint the US as a culprit. The snarling, tendentious lectures weaved into the tripe coming out of Hollywood is as invasive as a grating solicitation calls during dinner that have become exceedingly tiresome. The mainstream news media, so called, is overburdened with left leaning sophists who buttonhole people through the editing process and simply by choosing which stories merit air time and which don't. Beck openly tells you his purpose.
It seems liberal people so used to a comfort zone on television and film, where they find safe harbor for their opinions, don't like the notion of anyone challenging their beliefs. You don't have to agree with all of Beck's opinions, but like it or not, they're valid view points.
Who isn't trying to find who they are and why they're here and what brings true happiness? If we all did this searching, homework and turning to God, we'd all become better, happier people and there would be less bickering and contention. God is there for all of us, but we have to turn to him and our trials will make us stronger.
I think it's great that he shares his story too, it may find (even if it's just) one person who can learn from Beck and who may turn his life around because of Beck's example.
These bashing comments and complaintative remarks on varies topics in the world don't help anyone and keep us all divided. We need less pessimism, criticism, and complaining in the world. We need more optimism, encouraging, being grateful, and acting on what's right.
