Some okay choices but I bet all the best sellers this year are not kids games. I guess your a family newspaper but most gamers are not kidz.
yes they are. | 3:51 p.m. Dec. 2, 2007
of course most kids are gamers! many adults play games too, but look around. all the kids these days play at least 1 video game a day. trust me. besides, what do you consider "a kid"? up to 10? up to 15? 20? well kids from 6-18 are the biggest gamers ever. i dont see many 40 year olds playing video games everyday. but that's just me.

Maybe Skeptic should have read the review. There are Teen and Mature games reviewed. Halo 3 isn't a kids game. It's ridiculous when people comment and don't even read the stories. I'm also glad that there is a mix because it helps for the Christmas list.

The Orange Box games aren't robust enough for individual release? Blasphemy! TF2, Portal, or HL2:Ep2 are all excellent stand alone games and that doesn't even include Half Life 2 which comes in the box - one of the best selling and most highly acclaimed PC games ever.

My comments sounded more critical to some readers than I intended. I am pleased by the article but it felt a little kid-heavy to me. I read the WHOLE thing and by "kids" I mean under 12 or so.

I still think most gamers are 20 and up but I am thinking about consoles, not hand-helds. I did a little Google work to see what games are best-sellers for the year and a lot more are for kids than I would have expected.

#1. Wii Sports - 5.4 million (but that kinda goes along with the Wii)

#2. Halo 3 - 4. 75 million

#3. Pokemon - 4 million - DEFINITELY kids

#4. Wii play - 3 million (kids? I don't know)

#5. Guitar Hero II (PS2) - 1.7 million (kids and all others)

The titles I expected to be higher were "Bioshock" and "Crackdown" and "Call of Duty 4". They were top 25 but not top 10. So, with the idea that adults play kids games and kids play adult games (Halo 3 anybody?) I will say that I was wrong.

New and more information: I found console sales for the year which helps my original assertion. It isn't scientific but it seems to me that the Xbox 360 is not a "kids" console (under 12) and it led the way with 35 million software titles sold for the year. The DS was next with 27 million and the Wii with 25.

I can't post the URL here but Google "VGchartz" and you will find endless sales charts.
