Sen Mayne himself is proof that this sob-story we keep hearing (that Democrats can't get elected in Utah) isn't valid. Sen Mayne was a good man and he got elected (in Utah!), not because he was a Democrat, but because he was a good man with views many agreed with. Sen Mayne is PROOF, good Democrats can get elected, even in "One party dominated Utah".
Democrats need to concentrate on getting more good guys like Sen Mayne and quit crying about the "unfairness" of Utah's Republican majority as the best reason to vote for Democrats. (BTW, I vote for Democrats every time I feel they represent my views better)
