Utah Lake has had a reputation as a dirty scum covered mud puddle for as long as I can remember but has the potential to be much more than that.

The years of abuse from Geneva will take many years to repair but can be done.

We have to ask ourselves why we need to tow our boats and pack our fishing poles the many miles to the various lakes when we have this one in our back yard.

!Good news for Utah Lake !
Are there any Utah Citizen Groups or individuals involved as members of the Commission.

I truly believe that there are many knowlegeable indiviuals who have worked professionally for the best interests of the Lake for decades. Further, to not utilize some of those experienced folks in an effort like this would be a waste and seems to leave those who will end up paying whatever future bills out of the process

"A lot of people see (the lake) as an eyesore, but it truly is a gem"

An eyesore? Really? It's a lake- how can a lake ever be seen as an eyesore? What would you rather have there- houses, strip malls, a causew.. err.. nevermind

Will increase substantially if a causeway is built. Natural water flows will be diminished and the water will become stagnant. They need to really re-think this causeway.
Love to use it | 11:52 a.m. Nov. 26, 2007
It surprises me how difficult it is to access the lake. We would love to use its shores to relax and enjoy the cool of the lake, but the only place we can do that is at paid marinas and docks. Why isn't there just a long open beach where we can easily access and bask in the sun?

Is it funny or what, that a cause way in now being talked about? Twenty years ago, when we had a fun spot at Saratoga Springs, no wanted a cause way. Know that the rich live over there, all of a sudden a cause way is important so they can get to freeway and services faster?
Let them drive the long way around just like we did years ago, to go play over there.

Sumsion's position to both preserve the lake and to build a causeway are diametrically opposed positions. We should seek ways to clean the lake and preserve the lake in as natural state as possible. Yes, the lake's natural condition has been altered. But this doesn't mean we need to continue down the path of remaking the Utah Lake ecosystem.
