James L. Anderson | 9:46 a.m. Nov. 13, 2007
The linebacker you have been referring to as Jared Anderson is Jordan Anderson. Please make the correction public in your newspaper.

Alta's Big 3 and others | 11:12 a.m. Nov. 13, 2007
You might have the Big Three in the middle, but Alta is deep on Defense. Brantly Dunn is leading the state in INTs. Alta is extremely fast on defense. Kaden Carli and Mitch Alm can hit and run you down any day of the week. You have two of the fastest and best defensive ends in the state with Derek Keller and Brady Davies. Timpanogos QB was praying those guys would quit coming at him when they played Alta. Bingham couldnt move the ball on Altas defense. Offense is good, but Altas defense is the best in the state. Layton looks good too. Should be a great game.

11 Players on D., 90+ on team | 12:21 p.m. Nov. 13, 2007
Bingham had players that were faster, All-American players, out weighted Alta across the front line and Alta still handled them. Bingham couldnt run the ball against Altas inside players and they couldnt make the plays deep when they needed it. Offense wins games, Defense wins State CHAMPIONSHIPS. Go ALTA

All State Defensive Team | 1:19 p.m. Nov. 13, 2007
This could be the first time in history of Utah football that the whole All State defense will all come from one team.

Careful what you say about defense wins State. I hope this isn't the case since Layton has the #1 D in state. Good luck HAWKS.

Alta's defense is not first in the state. According to the stats on this site, Alta's defense allows an average of 14 points per game, Layton's defense only allows an average 9.54 per game - updated through 13 games. That would mean that Layton's defense is the best in the state. So, if defense wins State CHAMPIONSHIPS......

Sorry for the mix up. The linebacker mentioned as Jared Anderson was in fact Jordan Anderson and the story has now been fixed to say Jordan.

Jr. High Teams | 3:02 p.m. Nov. 13, 2007
Layton hasn't played anyone. 9.54 per game against whom? Jr. High Teams? Alta's 1st Defense hasn't been scored on that much, they had their sophomores playing against Jordan and other when they scored. Alta should have given up 14 points playing sophomores against 1st string varsity players. Alta was building their program for the next few years. Who cares that they gave up 14, they played the best teams. How many points has Layton put on the board compared to Altas? Alta scores an average of 42 points to Laytons 30. Layton has never scored enough to put their other players in the game.

Alta Alum | 3:09 p.m. Nov. 13, 2007
Anonymous...I'll tell you what Alta has accomplished over the years

State Champions: 1983 & 1988

Region champions: 1984, 1985, 1988, 2000, 2003, 2005, 2006

And what has Layton won since 1978??????????????

That's what I thought!

Good point - It is true, I saw a few of their games this year. I think Alta will win by 10 points - defense, leaves it Alta by 6

Just to be Clear...Layton also hasn't played against the "TOP" ranked offense for the entire year either. They will have to stop that offense first, in order to come out victorius. Bingham's defense STAT wise was the second best team behind Layton going into Friday's semi final against Alta. they were only giving up 12 pts per game. Alta put 21 on them and did it early. Bingham was averaging over 40 per game and they were luck to put up the 17 that they got. Don't be to overconfident before the game even takes place. Just know that Alta is for real and they will prove it on the field!

Love it! | 3:25 p.m. Nov. 13, 2007
Quit hiding behind that 9.54 pts per game average. It isn't fooling anyone. Not to say that Layton does not have a great D because they do, all I am saying is I want Layton to play Bingham twice and then play 2 very strong california teams and come back and show us their ppg average. I guarantee it would look different. You may have shut out skyline, who cares! Alta had that game won by the half too. The other two opponents that they have in common, Alta held to fewer pts, Jordan and Timpanogas. You may love your defensive #'s but if you put both teams on paper Alta wins no contest (they actually do have both teams down on paper, parry's power guide and Alta is favored by 10). You may want to rethink your # logic. Good luck to both teams. I am looking forward to a hard faught game.
