Why is bigotry towards Mormons still acceptable? In a statement like this, if someone instead replaced Mormons with "Jews" or "Blacks", it would be publicly denounced--for good reason.

Some of the original organizers of the SLC committee were Mormon (hard not to be statistically in that area), but it does not mean the Mormon church was involved. Nor does it mean you can say "The Mormons caused this problem." The definition of bigotry is to group all people together under one ill-informed stereotype. One might as well say, "Ah, the [group of your choice] are all alike." It shows a great ignorance that harms the reputation of millions of people.

The media needs to be fair and call a spade a spade, and decry prejudice in all of its forms.

ah, the Mormon Church! you mean the Church that was there as fire raged thru Southern California? and do you mean the same Church that was there donating bedding in Katrina times? or is this the same Church that sees many in South America get a College education? Or is this the same Church that Helps others in need with mortgage payments etc. in their own state? Before Mrs. McCain spoke, she should have investigated just how much THAT Church does for the communirty and outside Utah

The jury only took 30 minutes to acquit the original Olympic organizers of any wrong doing. The International Olympic Committee were the crooks. A little research will show that John McCain was behind that little witch hunt. The same John McCain endorsed by our present governor.

Wow! We are still living hopelessly in the Stone Age of Bigotry. One can only wonder what is muttered behind closed doors of the opposing candidates to their family members. My good Catholic friends at work here in Southern California told me they are very embarrassed.

The only "bashing" of Non-Mormons I've done is Utah is complaining about people who move here and then whine about the Mormons. It's like moving to Mexico and complaining about the Mexicans. If you don't like Mormons, don't move to Utah. I don't care what religion people practice, as long as they treat others good.

It is sad to read these kind of stories. She had every right to say what she said though. We as lds believe strongly in free agency. And she used it alright. But as her son said Mitt changed it all for the better, and we were the first Olympic games with money to spare.Could any one else say that? Would he make a great President? I think Mitt would be.

The saddest thing about all of this is the fact that LDS will flock to vote for McCain/Palin. All evangelicals consider our church a cult. We need to vote for the party that fights to keep the separaion of church and state. That is the part of the constitution we are blessed by that allowed the gospel to be restored and the church to continue to grow.
