If we'd get off our high horse and engage in cuba, get rid of the stupid embargo, the regime would collapse under it's own weight. If the island were full of US tourists and business, the cubans would one day come to realise that we're not so bad...and that capitalism has more or less taken over anyway. It's happening in China.
As long as we keep a distant, angry and defensive posture, change will be difficult.

Cambio...long overdue...very true for the US standpoint concerning the embargo

Life in Cuba is hell. We cubans call the island "The Big Prison" and the actual prisons "The Smallones". I am a cuban "rafter". In 1994 I escaped from Cuba on a couple inner tubes to Florida. That piece of sea between Cuba and Florida is a liquid cemetery for the thousands who were not as lucky as I was. Good people escaping from Castros gulag and dreaming of freedom.
But, because Castro is a lefty tyrant, nobody cares. Nobody want to know about the firing squads, torture chambers, racial discrimination; about 11 million slaves just 90 miles to the south.
Perhaps "God grew tired of us" ?

Despite nearly fifty years of trying, the Cuban government and the social system it represents, is still clearly and firmly in place. It's time for the United States to normalize relations with the island and negotiate any outstanding issues it still has with the Cubans.

One good place to begin would be returning the Guantanamo base to the island and ending the many programs now in place aimed at starving Cuba into bring the Miami exiles back.

Cuba has lots of problems. Some of its own making, and many which are caused by U.S. efforts to overthrow the Cuban government. I Cuba were free to address its own problems, it would have to do so. In fact, lots of discussion and debate is now going on inside of Cuba. I know because I am visiting it and working hard here as a researcher and journalist.

Check out the over 70,000 items in the free CubaNews database a Yahoo news group, which features information on the island from a wide range of viewpoints. My father and his parents used to live in Cuba, which is how I got interested.

Thanks,

Thompson and Rush support Cuba while selling the idiotic notion that cigars use special tobacco. What do you expect from a cypto-trail lawyer and a draft dodger?

The Republican Party line is doing business with totalitarian states like China and Vietnam encourages social and democratic reforms. They never seem to satisfactory to explain why Cuban is special anymore than Limbaugh as successfully sold me that smoking cigars is little more than a trashy habit.

More proof that conservatives really don't stand for anything. While contractors are stealing the public blind conservatives still can't get over Clinton being involved sexually with a woman.
