Id go with the political analyst. Realizing there is a subliminal influence if not overt. And Eagle Mountain has seen the fruits of overt. We have given away much of our green space as weve changed the developement code over the years. This has to stop and I think this begins with accepting NO money from developers in order to become an honest and transparent city government.

I think every problem in Eagle Mountain from declining property values to running out of water and sewer capacity is the result of mayors and city council people being bought and owned by the land speculators and developers. The elections in Eagle Mountain resemble a mafia run Chicago election. The land speculators hire private investigators to dig far into the past of opposing candidate's personal lives to find anything they can to lie about and twist into mud. The extent that they stoop to is shocking. I long for a hometown where good people can just run for office and work for the good of the people. I'm really starting to hate living in Eagle Mountain.

What is said about mean politics in Eagle Mountain is true. I was shown a book by some of the people mentioned in the story that had documents from 14 years ago that they were trying to use to convince me not to vote for one of the mayor candidates. It made me so mad that I decided I would vote for him anyway. I've lived in the center of town for 7 years and everything that was promised about what this city would be is almost gone. The houses are very poorly made and they have very tiny yards. The city council gave away 1000 acres of open space to a developer and he gets to set the zoning. I am so discouraged about our city. The one good thing about my home value going down is I was able to get the county to reduce my property taxes, but if I need to move one day I'll have to take a big loss.

I am so glad that when I looked for houses I settled on the east side of Lehi instead of Eagle Mountain or Saratoga Springs. Eagle Mountain especially has a myriad of problems- Transportation, water rights, sewer, politics, no commercial tax base, forclosure/bankruptcies, and other problems. I hope they can get some of these problems resolved some day. But, it looks like it will be later rather than sooner that these problems work themselves out. Especially if their politics continue to be this crooked. UDOT may someday figure out the transportation problems, and they may get a little commercial base, but many problems will get worse before they get better.

Some day the land will be gone and the developers will pull up stakes and move somewhere else. The ones left behind will be living in a community designed by developers only to maximize their profits. And generations of people will suffer from the greed of a few people.

Greed from everyone connected with real estate from coast to coast has ballooned values artificially. Try and sell a property now for the so-called going rates for properties. This is ridiculous! Cities and counties should not be allowed to approve developments with the gross lack of adequate roads, sewer, water, and other essential infrastructure. It is a scandal! This has lead to the continuing escalation of property taxes. The public transportation boondoggle has added additional obligations to the citizens. We don't need more public transportation! Who do you think is paying for all the costs involved with it. The road situation state-wide is atrocious. The upgraded I-15 Interstate project was not constructed properly. Anyone driving on it regularly knows this. Much of it makes you think you are on a Lagoon thrill ride. The Ogden to Layton corridor is terrible. When is this upgrade going to be finished? Developers who promise the moon should be bonded sufficiently to assure the proper completion of their projects. This baloney of touting a pool and a clubhouse as a sales tool and reneging on it, and then going bankrupt is the usual outcome, with no repercussions. This ought to be against the law.

I live in EM and I believe that residents need to get involved and vote in good honest people. This will get the ball rolling in the right direction. EM residents--WAKE UP! Get out there to the polls. We have a lovely community. Let's take it back for the people. It won't happen if residents sit back and do nothing. Get out there and vote!

You are right. Get out there and vote and for heaven sake don't vote for any incumbents who take money from developers. Look at who is financing those people and get those developer people out of office. Until they are gone Eagle Mountain will continue to be the worst run city in the state controlled by a few selfish land speculators who bought restricted land for little because they new the city council would remove the restrictions so they could reap a windfall. Why won't the Attorney General clean up this place?

We have got to vote for people who do not take money from developers. I have had it with EM politicians that are constantly giving in to developers. Several of the developers and builders are my friends but when it comes to politics I am voting against them. I just see the city much different than they do.
We do need comercial development so that we have a tax base so that building impact fees don't rule the city's direction. The way it is right now the impact fees finance the city and so the politicians are beholding to them. Once the tax base is diversified we won't have to depend on those impact fees.

1 problem: there are no honest people to vote for. They are all corrupt. My family is tired of this joke of a "city" and the "For Sale" sign went up on Friday.

Mark it's the home buyers money you use to pay the impact fees for the infastructure. The fees are part of the home price!!!!
You act as though it came out of your pocket!
Moving soon from this poor excuse of a city.
Somebody want to buy a house cheap?

Most of you make absolutey no sense. The first step in building a commercial base is new home construction. With new neighborhoods comes new ammenties. Business and industry will not move in until there is the right amount of roof tops to support that particular business ie grocery stores, restraunts etc. The fact is, business gives money to politicians; it just so happens that new home construction is the only game in town for alot of developing ares in Utah. I for one was greatful that I could buy a home for under 200k my kids love the neighborhood and we are finnally out of the appartment life.

That does not mean slap in as many high density poor quality projects as possible in the shortest amount of time. I have lived in Eagle Mountain for 8 years. I drove clear near Micron to attend church services for the first years. I went to Lehi to buy groceries, my kids attended elementary school in Lehi and the Maverik was the closest gas station. My point is, I would patiently wait a little longer to get the many promised ammenities to ensure a quality, well-planned community to raise my family in. I am sick of city center looking like a ghetto. That is the picture for the future of this city if we continue to accept status quo. I am voting for Culbertson, Strouse and DeKorver because I care about the quality of living and safety that we deserve here in Eagle Mountain. I will abstain voting for the third council seat as I have yet to find a third candidate who has the courage to truly represent the families ih Eagle Mountain.
