Coach Fox | 12:09 p.m. Sept. 27, 2007
I agree with Joe Wren, it appears you're being very selective and trying to make this look like a joke rather than print all the submissions, why is that? Dave's a big boy, he can take the criticism, and he has certainly earned it. Print ALL comments, not just the jokes. or favorable ones.
Commet Nazi | 12:32 p.m. Sept. 27, 2007
It is true... there is someone at the DesNews who is buddy of Fox. They are taking down way to much stuff that they let fly in other comment threads. Quit trying to buddy up to the man.

Fox is an arrogant man who got caught doing something illegal. Learn to deal with it.
Turned Snitch | 12:33 p.m. Sept. 27, 2007
If I were Dave Id not be turning (ratting) on my close circle of friends, he may need a few of them during this difficult time in his life. From what Im reading, hes not as loved as he thinks he is. (except the ones from his family members). Maybe some good can come out of this, if he reads these comments. Change is possible! Just to be safe, lets band him from coaching, managing, or being involved personally with any sports teams, say for 5 years.

To, Brain Dead

"I don't know if he did or not but the State investigater even said right in the article that Fox, Atkin and others did not know of the scheme"

The Article states they didn't know the full extent of the scheme, but they knew quit well, what the part in the scheme was. That is why they are plea dealing, and agreeing to help convict others

Quick --- Someone call Get Gephardt about this!!!!!
Soo Sad... | 1:05 p.m. Sept. 27, 2007
This is all just so sad. I feel so sorry for his family, which I know VERY well. People can be soo cruel.. Keep your head up Dave and family. You know who really loves you and in the long run, thats all that matters. I'm sure the majorirty of the people on here leaving comments are from previous sports teams that Dave helped and put his whole heart into or those that disliked you to begin with..Those people are ridiculous and not worth it anyway. Dave your incredible at your job and everything else you do, You may have made one small mistake, like not living in a home you signed for (ridiculous to have all over the news by the way) but you will be just fine and maybe learn a valuable lesson from all of this. Don't trust ANYONE ever again. We love and support you Fox Family.

Well! all I can say about David Is It
Aint over until the fat lady sings...lol..foxy
got caught with his hand in the old cookie jar.
This whole scenario is not right, a lot of innocent
people always get burned by people like Fox
who participate in these illegal schemes. I cant
buy that victim stuff...He is a college graduate
he knows this was wrong what he was doing...but
the fast buck sometimes speaks for it self. The
guy Fox believed has quite a past, so I find it very
hard to believe he was a victim...Let justice presume.
rrj | 1:40 p.m. Sept. 27, 2007
jazzman, AK 47 and Fox pampered, maybe, but what does Jerry Sloan have do to with any of this?
Moessers | 2:26 p.m. Sept. 27, 2007
First off, I can't even believe this is a news worthy item... but what is really epitomized here based on all the comments posted is the confirmation of what vicious, judgmental, self righteous, rock throwing people that make up the state of Utah.

Jennifer | 2:31 p.m. Sept. 27, 2007
I am so shocked at this story. Dave Fox knew that what he was doing was illegal and he did it anyway. I really think that he should be fired for this. As an employee of Channel 2, and in such a public position, he represents the station. I really see no way that he can continue on there and portray a positive image after this. His crime will always be a distraction.
Blue13 | 2:55 p.m. Sept. 27, 2007
It appears that Fox was a low-level unknowing member of an extremely large mortgage fraud ring. These mortgage fraud conspiracies happen all the time, but the low level people often don't know what the upper level people are doing.

The kind of communications fraud that Fox committed is rampant. Although it is illegal, people are not charged with it very often. Fox was charged because the prosecutors knew that if they pressured him, he could help the government nab bigger, more culpable bad guys. Hope the whole ring goes down. I've seen hundreds of people's financial lives ruined by mortgage fraud schemes.
Guilty | 3:11 p.m. Sept. 27, 2007
To everyone on here defending Fox, you're forgetting one important fact...he plead guilty! He knew what he was doing, stop making him out as being a victim.
Eric | 3:13 p.m. Sept. 27, 2007
I think there are many in the Utah real estate business, which include home owners, that have been caught up in the artificially high pricing of homes in Utah. In Springville, where we own a home, the prices people are asking for homes in our neighborhood are almost twice what they paid for them 2 or 3 years ago. The wages in Utah do not match the prices of the homes.
Distraction? | 3:14 p.m. Sept. 27, 2007
re:Jennifer

You don't think you could watch a guy give sports scores and talk about athletes because this would be a distraction?

New for you, some of the people he reports about and many of the people watching have at one time or another done something wrong.

How about a little kindness and forgiveness and let the justice system do it's job.
SomeGuy | 3:26 p.m. Sept. 27, 2007
Fox is back on his radio show in the afternoons. At the beginning of the show, he gave a 5 minute apology basically saying that he didn't know it was wrong at the time and that his legal issues are taken care of. Then he proceeded to talk about sports. There is more than meets the eye with this story and it seems he is in a major hurry to sweep it under the rug as nothing.
Amen | 3:27 p.m. Sept. 27, 2007
Eric you are exactly right! And whoever wrote from "guilty" Do you know Dave? Didn't think so, so mind your own business please! The thing none of you understand is that he never said he wasn't guilty. He even said on the radio today he got in with the wrong group and made a very bad decision and now he is paying for it. He also said what a strain it has been on him and his family so just mind your business. tHe only way any of you know him is from the news anyway. So none of you have a right to judge. I can't wait till something like this happens to one of you and you can be in Dave's shoes. GET OVER IT ALL PEOPLE !! MOVE ON!!
Funny stuff | 3:34 p.m. Sept. 27, 2007
Oldtimer wrote: "Have the channel 2 helicopter drop him into the big house at the point of the mountain, and see if those people have a cake for him."

Don't you all think that's funny stuff?
Tell it like it is | 4:16 p.m. Sept. 27, 2007
Don't justify what he's done or say all he did was try to get a .5 better loan. He's made it harder for any of us to get a loan now by being dishonest and probably bought a home a young couple needed and hoped to turn it around for big bucks.

Thanks a lot Dave.
Clueless | 4:56 p.m. Sept. 27, 2007
So there's a lot of you seem to think you know what exactly went down in this situation with Dave Fox. Think again. My family went through pretty much the same thing with a so called "investor". A little naive? Sure. But we did not go into it "knowing" we were being dishonest or breaking any laws. When dishonest people are trying to make a buck, they will tell you anything to make it sound right. So stop calling the kettle black and worry about your own dirty little secrets.
fraud | 5:39 p.m. Sept. 27, 2007
It is too bad that fox got suckered into fraud -I'm sure that it was due to "blind faith"trusting people for the wrong reasons---I wish you luck and I hope that the general public realises that utah county is the FRAUD of the world.CAPITAL

Maybe some sponsors will have something to say about that.
Your fired | 5:51 p.m. Sept. 27, 2007
fire his a$$. He committed a felony. Its one thing to commit a misdemeanor but a felony that is different. He sucked as a sportscaster anyway.
Vegas Ed | 5:56 p.m. Sept. 27, 2007
The only reason this is a story is he's a (semi)celebrity. Move onto something else.
Wake up | 6:06 p.m. Sept. 27, 2007
To Andy, 9:24 a.m. on 9/27.
You said "All Dave Fox did was sign on a owner occupied loan to get .5% better rate. Is that criminal?"
.5% is an insurance policy for the loan company. The loan says you have to be an owner occupier -- for good reason. When you live in a home you are much more likely to make the payments than an investor. It doesn't matter if he made the payments in full and on time, it is still fraud and your justification makes me ill.
dirty rotten news guys | 6:13 p.m. Sept. 27, 2007
Channel 2's substitute weatherman gets popped for child porn and now their sportscaster gets busted for fraud. Great character there on 3rd and Main.
Guilty as well | 6:21 p.m. Sept. 27, 2007
So many, so quick to make unrighteous judgement. Is this really that big? Should he really be compared to hardened criminals? Then myself and many, many more "good people" need to line up at the door of the state pen. Throw your "stones" at us as well. Myself, family members and friends were in the same naive position as Mr Fox, where we were painted a pretty picture of an investment opportunity. Where we were told that certain markets were just about ripe. Where we were told by lenders that certain things we signed were just small technicalities that people signed all the time and it was OK. Small mistakes, yes. But are we, as well as Mr Fox meeting our contractual obligations (Payments)to those lending institutions? YES. Is it a crime to want to make an extra buck? Are any of you stone throwers involved in the stock market or any other investments where you chance to "earn an extra buck"? Are any of you ever going "take advantage" of someone else by selling your own homes at a higher price than you paid for them? Get the whole story people. Food fot thought, Love your neighbor.

Fox sounds like a popular guy.
Been there ... | 7:42 p.m. Sept. 27, 2007
I was reading a great book this morning ... and when I read this I immediately thought of Dave Fox, his wife and family. No one would be making a big deal of this if Dave Fox wasn't a television sports caster. Give it some thought and give Dave and his family some consideration & compassion instead of wanting his head on a platter!

"Our generation is afflicted with critics in the media who think they do a great and clever thing in mercilessly attacking men and women in public office and in other positions of leadership. They are prone to take a line or a paragraph out of context and pursue their prey like a swarm of killer bees. They lash out with invective and snide innuendo against those who have no effective way of fighting back or who, in the spirit of the teaching of the Master, prefer to turn the other cheek and go forward with their lives. A little mercy on the part of such critics would effect a vast change in our public communications."

AMEN! Give it a try!
whodoneit | 7:42 p.m. Sept. 27, 2007
You know Dave, I used to listen to your sports cast. I used to believe in you. But now, after this fradulant behavior, I don't know how I or how anyone else can possibly believe what you have to say. Brighton 23 Alta 17...how do we really know? How do we know that you haven't switched the scores so that you can win an under the table bet? How do we even know that Brighton and Alta played that day hearing it from you? I suppose we can always verify it by tuning into the other more reputable stations.
I'm so sorry what this has done to Channel 2. Already their integrity was questionable..but this...this just adds salt to the wound of their terrible ratings.
therestofthestory | 8:08 p.m. Sept. 27, 2007
While not dismissing Dave's actions, it's too bad that the rest of the story is not being published. I have no involvement in this, but what companies were doing this? Dave Fox is not an island.
Funny! | 8:20 p.m. Sept. 27, 2007
Its pretty funny Mr Whodunit that Channel 2 is number 1 in ratings. But thanks for that wonderful paragraph, You really think he is going to make up a sports score?? Cmon, Don't be ridiculous, I mean REALLY have some class...
I may be old but I'm Slow | 8:36 p.m. Sept. 27, 2007
Hmmmmm,
Fox......makes me wonder what other High profile people were involved......Fox traveled in high company.....I am sure he was not involved with a bunch of pimps and bookies.....Should be interesting to see what comes out in the wash.....If he does talk and if the Attorneys let the truth come out.....
re:Whodoneit | 9:38 p.m. Sept. 27, 2007
If you don't believe in Dave Fox anymore, can you still fly if you have pixiedust???

Hang in there buddy. I believe in Dave. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that if he says Brighton 23, Alta 17, that the Score is true, sent to us through the words of the Sportscaster David N. Fox.

Who else is involved in this?
How 'fake' are Utah prices because of scams(intentional or not) like these?

Mr. Fox is not a victim. Lets get that straight
yes, I feel bad for his family, but he needs to
face the consequences of this illegal activity.
I am sure Mr. Fox regrets this all happened, but
still he made the bad decisions. So now he must
pay....

I agree with Funny Stuff. Old Timers comment is funny. Lets read it again,"Have the cannel 2 helicopter drop him into the big house at the point of the mountain, and see if those people have a cake for him!"
Guilty or not thats funny! He cares more about getting cakes from the high school kids than he does about their games and scores!!!!!
Moessers exposer | 10:46 p.m. Sept. 27, 2007
Hey Moessers--go shovel your self-produced anti-predominant religion bigorty waste elsewhere, you loser.

Hey Been There--Fox IS one of those media critics who think they do a great and clever thing in mercilessly attacking men and women from his media bully-pulpit. Listen to his Radio show you have all the invective and snide innuendo you want. And unlike those he commonly attacks he DOES have an effective way of fighting back, he IS Media. No doubt he's learning a little about humility and mercy now.

And enough with the Fox apologisms: He broke the law. Repeat after me, he broke the law. It doesn't matter that he is a public figure, that you went through the same thing, that others have too, that you didn't know you were getting suckered, yada, yada, ignorance of the law is no excuse, loser. He broke the law. You did too. Don't like the law? Then change it. Until then, obey it.

My friend Shawn and I were just talking about what a good man Dave Fox is. You that don't know him can stop the character assasinations right now. He is handling his legal issue like a man. Time to leave Dave and his family alone.

HEY, QUICK EVERYONE, THEY ARE BLOGGING THAT URBAN MEYER IS COMING BACK TO THE UTES OVER ON THE UTAH BLOG.

It's about time. Dave's arrogance and duplicity are legendary in the SLC television market. It was bound to catch up with him sooner or later.
hi dave | 12:31 a.m. Sept. 28, 2007
Hi Dave!
Hang in there buddy.
Gary in CA | 12:41 a.m. Sept. 28, 2007
I'm not going to suggest that Dave Fox was ignorent in his actions or that there should be no consequences to his actions. My question goes out to those however that seem to have the "lock him up and throw away the keys" attitude.

How many of you have ever bartered with a friend or neighbor? "You give my daughter piano lessons this summer and I will use my carpentery skills in finishing off your basement." OR "Bill, I'll be happy to put crowns on your wife's front teeth in exchange for you installing Ceramic Tile on my bathroom floors."

Sound familiar? Of course it does! If you haven't reported such transactions to the IRS along with a
stated value, there is no way for them to collect their taxes. You have broken the law. Yes, the IRS says you have committed FRAUD! Many of you have stated in one way or the another that ignorance of the law is no excuse. Think about it.

I'm sure you all heard about the idiot that cried on TV and told everyone to leave Britany Spears alone after she bombed at the MTV awards then got approached by network TV heads to have his own show..... well in that case, LEAVE DAVE FOX ALONE. JUST LEAVE THE POOR GUY ALONE!!!!!! KUTV, if your in hunt for a new sports caster my number is.......
some guy | 1:14 a.m. Sept. 28, 2007
Bye bye Dave!
Cake man | 3:51 a.m. Sept. 28, 2007
The guy who said Dave is more concerned about getting all the attention and a cake at high school games than caring about the actual game is right on. He has no genuine interest in high school games at all. It's all about him, and his arrogance with this helicopter stuff is an embarrassment to Channel 2 and a great distraction to the games. The station and Fox exploit kids trying to get their faces on TV just to pump up their own ego. It's time to end that big cake presentation arrival. And by the way, it's also against all journalistic ethics to even be party to such stuff and accept gifts like that.
Boo, Hoo, Hoo Fox | 8:52 a.m. Sept. 28, 2007
Dave Fox knew exactly what he was doing and made several thousand dollars doing it. Most of it is public record, so if you sops think he is such a victim, think again. As a result of his plea he gets to keep all his ill-gotten booty for co-operating with the feds. Unfortunately, that is how our justice system works. He buys a house for $3,000,000 and resells is less than 2 months later for $4,600,000 and doesn't pay off the original $3,000,000 loan then default on the payment a few months later - sounds like a real victim to me!!! I would stand in line to pay a $500 fine when I made $1,600,000 and get to keep it. Not saying he got the whole 1.6M but don't think he didn't get a lot - he is not a "Victim", he was complicit and knew exactly what he was doing. Not occupying the home is not the real issue here, they are just keeping the real story from the public! Falsifying loan documents is a felony and that is what he did. He just copped to a lesser charge for his testimony. Can you say FRAUDSTER KUTV?
Fox Family.. | 10:05 a.m. Sept. 28, 2007
Dave we love you! Can't wait till your back on the air again! Don't let one bad mistake ruin your life. Keep your head up and Don't listen to all these CREEPS out there who think they know what they are talking about and think they know you cause none of them do. And to Dave's adorable wife and children, you are in our thoughts and prayers, I know how hard this all must be for you to see Dave attacked and torn down for his one mistake in the 20+ years he has been a sportscaster. This story will all be forgotten in a matter of days and our messed up community will have something else to talk about. Ignore all the Ignorant people out there, there is way too many of them apparently. You have way more support than you think. I know it must seem like none at all with all these Crazy's writing terrible things, but WAY more people support you and can't wait to get you back on air again!! God Bless you all. And SHAME on those for tearing a person down in a way that was so uncalled for.
Also.... | 11:01 a.m. Sept. 28, 2007
Dave you have more enemies than you think.....
Move ON!!!!!!!! | 11:52 a.m. Sept. 28, 2007
Ohh thanks for that comment. He is way more aware of his enemies than the supporters trust me. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. ITs over and done. GET OVER IT PEOPLE MOVE ON!!!!!!!!!!!
sporty2 | 12:33 p.m. Sept. 28, 2007
I agree with Jennifer who stated that having Dave Fox remain at Channel Two, reporting on sports as usual, would be as distraction in light of what he's done. The people we see on air, represent the station. No one's perfect, but committing a crime like this and expecting to keep a high profile job is unrealistic. Dave Fox had a choice, and he chose to go down the wrong path. So, yeah, this would be a huge distraction.
The New Dave Fox. | 12:46 p.m. Sept. 28, 2007
This will make Dave Fox New and Improved......LOL!
