Commuter rail to Provo will change game day traffic to BYU football games forever... Will be fun to fill up the commuter rail with blue clad BYU fans. Go Cougs!

I like the idea of UTA expanding Light-Rail and Commuter Rail; but what about putting bus service all the way down 7th East from 400 South; it makes no sense to have service on 3rd; 5th and 9th East, but not 7th East, which is a major thuroughfare. UTA also needs to put more bus stops at the airport; instead of just one Bus Stop.

Layton, Kaysville, Fruit Heights, and Farmington get one commuter rail stop and no light rail.

My commute time in the last two years has increased from 25 minutes to 40 minutes. Multiply that by tens of thousands and calculate the loss in time and wasted gasoline.

Whey isn't the Davis County rep for the Wasatch Front Regional Council doing something to get mass transit for us?

I don't know what you're complaining about, Davis County is getting commuter rail AND legacy all in one year. I guarantee you that by Christmas 2008 you will see a huge difference in your commute, even if you won't use Legacy or Frontrunner, other people will which will ease congestion on I15.

We can't have everything, commuter rail and Legacy will do just fine for now

I'm confused. Mark Heilleson of the Sierra Club criticized plans to build a highway along the west side of the Salt Lake and Utah Valleys because there is no alternate transportation being planned. Now I read about Federal funding being secured for FIVE rail lines- two of which run roughly parallel to / intersect with this new freeway. Could Mark Heilleson not be telling the truth to further his political agenda??? Hey Mark- quit telling lies about a lack of mass transit projects and get on board with these rail lines- they are good for the environment!!

This news is awesome. These rail lines can't be built quick enough. It will be great to have these transportation alternatives. I just hope some whacks in Draper don't screw up my rail line to Point of the Mountain!! That future line is part of the reason I moved there.

Elmer, bus service IS all along 700 East. Starting at 200 South, in fact. It follows 700 East until it becomes Van Winkle, then follows that east and south on one of the fast routes (every 15 minutes). More frequent than 300 East, 500 East, 900 East by far. Check UTA's redesign. If you want to ride along that route farther than 4500 South, you can transfer to the 900 East bus and then 700 East does have a route farther south in the Midvale-Sandy area.

Commuter rail will actually prove better than Light rail would. A light rail from Ogden to SLC with frequent stops would take an hour plus. Commuter rail will take 45 minutes. With only 5 or 6 stops and a top speed of 80 with no traffic lights, you will get downtown fast. Light rail goes 45, has to stop much more often and occasionally has to waiti for traffic lights. I think commuters will appreciate the difference. Draper to SLC is only 20 miles, whereas Ogden to SLC is 45. That is why the different train types.

It is my sincere hope that someday the commuter rail will come all he way to Nephi. There are a lot of people that would love to take the train from there to SLC and even on to Logan. Imagine the number of commuters from Sanpete that would drive to Nephi just to catch the train downtown for events such as a Jazz game. I would love to ride instead of drive fo two hours. Especially in poor weather and late night after events. It also eliminates so many parking hassles. Go UTA, build and we will use it.....

I SINCERELY hope that someday the commuter rail comes all the way south to Nephi. There are many people that drive north daily from Sanpete county and I'll bet many of them would rather ride. I would much rather ride the train instead of drive for two hours to attend Jazz games and events in SLC. Especially in poor weather and at night. I'd ride it all the way to Logan if I could. Go UTA, build it and we will use it!!!

I am still waiting for the bus to get me to Walmart on 56 South after 7 at night and on Saturday. UTA why not tell the people how bosses have been calling you because some of their employees who use the bus are now arriving late for work because of the changes that you deemed 'for the good of the commuters' I started working 2 weeks ago and have been late for work 2 or 3 times because my ride didn't show up. On the old schedule (now 35S) I would have made it in plenty of time for work. Luckily this is the last week of training and next I start working reasonable hours. I think that it's great that you want to run most of the buses every 15 minutes but to have to wait almost a half hour if you don't time your plans right to get from but 217 to 218? Start running the 218 bus every 15 minutes also or better yet consoledate 217 &218 into one route keeping the SLCC a transfer point.

For all purposes there is practically no service on 700 East. During rush hours only they run Downtown AM return PM on routes 307 and 320. Each route runs every 20 minutes but they do no provide every 10-minute service on their shared portion like they should because UTA schedules the buses on top of each other.

So for anyone traveling the 700 East corridor at any other time there is no bus service.

in Provo and live in SL. My car has 225k miles on it and wont last another year I suppose. Then again I could move to utah county. I shudder just thinking about it.

Any kind of rail in Utah County will be nice. The Express buses are very crowded and many routes run too infrequently. It also would be nice if UTA would add a mid-day express route for riders who end up with family emergencies back in Utah County during the day. Currently you have to take a two hour ride on TRAX down to 10000 S and then the 811 around the point of the mountain. This essentially leaves all us Utah County folks stranded in SL County all day with no way out.

TRAX to Davis County in addition to FrontRunner is a possibility...

Check out UTA's website. Under press releases it states "South Davis County Residents Have Opportunity To Comment On Transit Options". The options include:

Streetcar
TRAX Light Rail
Diesel Multiple Unit Rail (similar to TRAX but diesel powered)
Traditional or Enhanced Bus
Bus Rapid Transit (Buses that run in designated lanes, with stations and frequencies similar to TRAX)

With more people riding the 833 bus route, IT IS NOW TIME TO HAVE THIS ROUTE (#833) run EVERY 30 minutes or LESS! Why? Pretty soon, this route is becoming more and MORE popular! With a lot of BYU students in Provo, Utah, please make this change AS SOON AS POSSIBLE (from 60 minutes to 30 minutes or less please!!!!) So, can't we please speed things up, please? IT IS NOW TIME TO TAKE SOME ACTION! UTA can and MUST DO IT.....SOONER, please. Thank you.

from my experience UTA does the opposite from what the public wants. but rail to provo would be really nice. also, just a thought, with an average of 15 people standing daily on the 2nd southbound 811, put one of the larger busses on the route during that time! not later when nobody is on the bus.
