I have a great idea, and a solution to the west side problem! Since we're on the subject of mass transit...

Why don't they run all the TRAX lines underground, downtown, much like the BART trains in San Francisco?

Having TRAX run above-ground was a stupid idea to begin with, with Utah's dynamic weather patterns.

That said, they should've had the trains run underground or above city streets to give cars more room to move around. It's like that in pretty much all of the major urban centers in America.

600 West makes the most sense in connecting to other modes of transit. From the drawings the bridge wouldn't look too bad. This is a tough call because it's commuters from outside SLC versus those inside SLC.

Hate to tell you this Jordan T but going underground at this point is STUPID. It costs 10 TIMES as much to go underground as it does above ground sometimes more. Just look how much they are spending in Seattle because of the tunnels and Viaducts (in fact its more a heavy metro system than a light rail system).

Above ground works fine and cost less.
