I hope Syracuse will realize what a strong mayor will do to our city. Which by the way is a major change in government not what the council did. All they did was take the CEO title away from him. He still had the important powers I would expect in a mayor. A city manager form of government has better checks and balances and is a more fair government. I have no problem with having the mayor as the CEO but I have a big problem with the city administrator answering only to the mayor. Our mayor has literally broken the law because the administrator answered only to the mayor. Mistakes have cost the city tons of money as well as other things I won't mention here. If you want the mayor as CEO at least make the administrator (manager) subject to the mayor and council. The two highest vote getters are financially supported by the mayors friends. Its interesting that the current council was in part financed and helped by him then they turned against him. Now he's trying it again. Maybe he'll eventually get the right yes men elected so he can do whatever he wants.

The people of Syracuse are being fed stories by the Mayor and his friends Hammond, Peterson, and Shingleton. It is hard to defend city from people who would use it for personal gain. When the people of the city are informed about everything that has been "unmentioned" above, there will be a greater understanding of exactly why voting for those who would keep our city protected by having a city manager who would be kept in check by the WHOLE council, including the mayor, instead of ONLY by the mayor is so important. I, for one, hope that the citizens of this great city will rise up together as one and let our voice be heard. We as citizens deserve to have a council who are not just henchmen to the mayor, but will work as a team with the mayor to ensure that the city will be run properly, effectively, and in a way in which the city as a whole will be benefitted, not just for the benefit of two or three men.
I hope that the good citizens of our fair city will be able to discern good, honest men who will work together for the city as a whole instead of for those whose only apparent interest is taking away the check of having the manager accountable to the whole council instead of just the mayor. We all learned as little children that two heads are better than one. Let us all remember that when we are deciding who we should vote for in November. Do we want one man, the mayor, or do we want two, the mayor and council, to govern our city, by overseeing the city manager.
