It's not all the under 5's that are causing the problem. Please parents teach your children to go the the toilet before they go into the pool and if they need to go during their time at the pool to do it in the toilet, not the pool. Parents teach your children to wash their hands(even with soap) at the pool. If it doesn't get better there won't be a pool for anyone to swim in.

It seems the health dept. is not as on top of things as one would hope. I find it most interesting that this outbreak seemed to come out of left field. When about 2 weeks before the outbreak was announced the health dept. was at my pool doing there monthly check and did not say a word about any of this. In fact they were trying to close my pool because my chlorine was a tiny bit to high and as it turns out there test kit was not reading correctly. Now there saying to run it higher than norm and do more super-chlorinating. And in fact I did not receive any notice of the new regulations until a few days after I saw what was going on on the news. Thankfully nobody sick with us! But maybe the health dept. could keep some of the pools a little more in the loop in the future.

Again, don't forget that different familes, cultures, and individuals have varying standards for cleanliness. Hopefully all this attention will affect some positive change in the clientele that use the public pools, even it is sheerly from the desire to be able to bring the whole family again.

Different standards of cleanliness? All we are doing is asking the public to do is shower before you get in the pool, clean the backside if needed and the wash your hands. How hard is that?
