While Becker is quite aligned with most of my progressive ideas, I look forward to brand new approach to government. I have found this by studying Jenny Wilson's platform - especially her plans to augment the downtown reconstruction with a revitalized "creative" community. Her plan to offer incentives to young urban dwelling software creators, artists, musicians, etc. is exactly what City Creek ISN'T offering. Instead of chain stores and franchise restaurants, owner-owned shops and galleries will set the downtown apart from Sandy, Draper, etc.

We're lucky to have so many quality candidates to choose from.

I sincerely hope people utilize the privilege they have to select their leaders and get out and vote today!

And better yet, vote for Jenny Wilson!

Jenny Wilson doesn't impress me in the slightest. I have watched too much ignorance displayed by her in her capacity as County Councilwoman. I am certain that this would be a three person race if it weren't for the fact that Jenny is Ted Wilson's daughter.

I had not met Dave before this election, but I have become very impressed by his policies and moderation. He has the experience this city needs and is the most reasonable candidate. I really do like Dave. And this article is right, we all need to vote regardless of who you vote for.

I vote. So should you | 1:01 p.m. Sept. 11, 2007
We all need to encourage friends and family to act on their civic responsibility. Not voting is linked to not caring. Not caring is a breeding pond for nepotism, communism, terrorism, etc. This article is a good reminder to all of us. We must not take theses things too lightly.

This city NEEDS Jenny Wilson. What are you talking about ignornace in the Council, Ryan? Jenny is the strongest player on that council, AND she's the only woman. We need a mayor who's not going to back down on tough issues. I saw the tough side of Jenny on Sunday when she took on Rocky's insult on how men or women with small children shouldn't take on high pressure jobs. If that were the case, then John F. Kennedy shouldn't have been President.

Jenny is a fraud. When she panders for votes by running a campiagn that cliams to care about environmental issue, drives two suv's, and I have recieved 6 of her high gloss flyers in the past 6 days. fraud

Another Mom for Jenny | 2:29 p.m. Sept. 11, 2007
Actually, Jenny does quite a bit for the environment. She's got two SUV's? So what? She also has two kids so she clearly needs them. They're low emission SUV's I might add. Comparable to the 4WD Subaru you probably drive. There are bigger concerns than SUV emissions that Jenny is working on, like environmentally conscious building materials and codes in the city. What is your house built of? I guarantee I could nit pick through your life and call you a fraud too.

To another mom: "She's got two SUV's. So what? She has two kids so she clearly needs them." Right. One SUV for each kid. "Comparable to the 4WD Subaru you probably drive." That is quite an irresponsible assumption you just made. Any evidence to back that up? "I guarantee I could nit pick through your life and call you a fraud too." But, go_fast is not running for mayor on an environmental platform.

Yet One More Mom For Jenny | 6:45 p.m. Sept. 11, 2007
I'm tired of the complaining about Jenny Wilson's SUV's. Take a look around - on your street, at the grocery store, even in your driveway. There are LOTS of SUVs. The fact that Jenny Wilson's family owns two is not a deal breaker for me. As Moms for Jenny says, there are bigger fish to fry when it comes to the environment. And as Another Mom for Jenny also so eloquently implied, those of you complaining should not throw stones at glass houses. Unless you're living in a solar powered glass house, that is. Jenny has great ideas about how to raise environmental awareness and to put those plans into action. That she drives an SUV or sends out mailers doesn't negate it, nor does it make her a hypocrite.

Oh, and while Keith Christensen is not truly a contender at this point, nobody seems to care that he owns THREE SUVs. He only fessed up to one in the debate. And Ralph Becker just recently converted his to biodiesel, which actually isn't all too environmentally friendly. Nice campaign tactic, Ralph.

Do your research before you go for the easy target of SUVs and mailers.

With low voter turn out all over the nation, and especially here in SLC, why in the world are we dying in and trying to push democracy in Iraq?

Senator Craig is against gays, but it is believed by some that he could be a closet gay. So let's say he is gay and he has spoken out against gays, that would enrage a lot of people, however, if he was openly gay and didn't speak out against them, then that would be honest. I don't know who or what is running in your state, I was living there when Rocky was there and I don't really care for him. But my feeling for any politician is that if they are pushing a cause or against one, then by golly don't be like some parents in the style of "do as I say, not as I do". If this Jenny Wilson is wanting to be a "green" person, then be one, oh by the way, I think everyone should be thin, but don't expect to see me that way, I am 80 pounds overweight, maybe I can settle for just being 60 pounds overweight and then I can tell everyone else what to do. How many of us have gone to a Doctor that is grossly obese and he tells us to lose weight, kind of hard to take someone like that too seriously.
