Conventional wisdom is boring and, well, conventional. I'd like to think SLC voters can look beyond party labels and religious affiliations and pick the person who will be the best Mayor. If it's a heads up contest between Buhler and Wilson, clearly, Buhler would be the more experience and proven candidate. It's not like the guy is Greg Curtis or Curt Bramble. As Bernick points out, Dave's record is that of a moderate, which is what a lot of Salt Lake voters are.

primary prediction:
Jenny Wilson- 30%
Dave Buhler- 27%
Ralph Becker- 22%
Keith Christensen- 17%
others- 5%

So it will be Wilson and Buhler in the final...in which case all of Ralph Beckers supporters will throw their votes to Jenny Wilson and the door will be shut.

The only chance Buhler has is if he can manage to beat Jenny by more than 6 or 8 points in the primary which would make Jenny's support seem weak, but that seems highly unlikely at this point. Buhler's move is particularly unlikely when you consider that Wilson has raised a bucket of money in August, which is a strong indication that her support is not soft like some have suggested.

Bob always seems to beat around the bush so as not to offend those he would like to go to for information or an interview down the road...its too bad he can't tell it entirely like it is-- I think Bob would put his money on my prediction!

I have heard Jenny refer to herself as raised LDS but not practicing and have seen at least one other article say something similar. Is she telling a different line now or did Bernick get that wrong?

Nuances I suppose...but important to some people (tho' it wouldn't affect my vote one way or the other). The main thing is just getting it right. Which is true?

I'll vote for Jenny or Becker, guess I need to make up my mind soon.

No way on Buhler.

Too bad Rocky didn't implement instant runoff voting during his tenure as mayor.

Then you could rank your favorite candidate first, you next favorite second, and so on, without worrying about splitting the vote among similar candidates and electing the candidate you prefer the least.
