It's outrageous that you would defend Bob Murray in his closing of the Tower mine. Like the little boy caught cheating, Murray is picking up his marbles and going home. Take if from one who knows him from Ohio, Murray is a ruthless mine operator who doesn't give a hoot about his employees no matter what he says or how many crocodile tears he sheds. All he cares about is production and making as much money as he can--and for coal operators, that means cutting back on safety. That's why he was doing retreat mining at Crandall Canyon in the first place--it's almost like free money to a coal operator. Utah coal miners should thank their lucky stars if he moves out of the state and leaves more responsible coal operators still there.

If "Minervoice" knew for a fact Mr Murray was ruthless wouldn't he have stated some facts to prove his point? No, Minervoice chose to go on the attack without giving us an example of this ruthlessness. The writer of the above piece sound to me as if this is an "get even" statement. I would need to hear the details pertaining to the above statement. I would also like to know if this small summation was made by an ex-employee or an acquaintence before I made a judgement. As for Mr Murray leaving Utah. . .I would like to ask the writer if he has been without work for long periods of time? I'm quessing the answer is no or he would not make this remark!

It's still not too late for the Governor to meet with Mr. Murray privately to patch things up. Requesting such a meeting would show some maturity on the Governor's part. After all, the important thing here is the welfare of the miners.

The governor is all about publicity - He can easily bad-mouth someone like Bob Murray, shoot from the hip, if it gets him in the news, on the side of the general, unknowing public. I don't think he has a clue what he's talking about when he talks about how Murray has treated these families. This is all too typical of a publicity hungry politician who would throw anyone under the bus if it serves his political purposes - while at the same time throwing money at big shots like Dave Checketts for his ill-conceived RSL experiment. The Gov is all about grand-standing, getting TV time, while making no sense whatsoever at much of what he says. He's just biding his time waiting for Hatch or Bennett to retire so he can go back "home" to Washington D.C. and become a real big shot - and good riddance to him.

I believe that Murray just blamed Huntsman for the layoffs he was already planning. It is obvious that Murray likes to blame everyone but himself for anything that goes wrong.

No. Utah sees a major earthquake every 350 years. Last one? 350 years ago.
