You had to fuel up in Cedar after filling in St. George. Sounds like you will be spending all your time at fuel stations :(

I've done the same trip twice in the past month. St. George was closed on a Sunday morning so I drove from Vegas to Cedar City on a tank. I also filled in Victorville and bypassed Barstow on the way to Vegas. Fillmore is kind of problematic because their station is only open until 11pm. I don't think I could make it from Cedar City to Springville but I could probably make it from Springville to Cedar City because the compressor at Flying J in Springville is almost 4000psi and you can get a lot more fuel in the tank than you can in Cedar City. We need to get more CNG vehicles on the road so more stations will install the CNG compressors. My Civic GX got over 40mpg on the trips. That works out to less than 2/mile. I'm hooked.

I drive all over southern Utah using CNG. I find the stops are offset by the savings. I only wish I could find away to convert my expedition so I could enjoy the same great savings and also not line the pockets of big oil.

You can get that Expedition converted. Try SNO-Motion in downtown SLC. The cost to convert will be almost completely offset by your $4k federal tax credit and our $2,500 Utah credit.

In my reading/research this week, I think the "$4K federal tax credit" is only available for passenger vehicle conversions which are converted to run 100% alternative fuels. And the amount of the tax credit wouldn't necessarily be $4000-that's the amount approved for purchasing a new CNG powered Civic. The credit for a conversion would be 50% of the price of the conversion, up to $5000. For me, I'd prefer an Expedition that is bi-fuel, meaning that it can use CNG until those tanks are empty then switch to regular gasoline. That won't qualify for the federal tax credit, but it would still qualify for the Utah tax credit, as long as it can be shown that in actual operation it uses greater than 70% alternative fuel. I want to find out how long this $0.73/gal CNG will last-that is about 1/3 the national average for CNG I believe, and is a price only available in Utah. Again, this is all from my casual readings, so don't take my word for it!
