Dave doesn't stand a chance. If he makes it through the primary he will lose big. He would be lucky to get 1% of the vote that will go to Becker in the primary. Wilson will get the rest. The real race is in the primary between Wilson and Becker. Whoever makes it through the primary will be the mayor of SLC. Buhler should move to DC and work with Mikey. They are both classic Utahan politicians.

I love this story: It only goes to show that the two frontrunners are political hacks with nothing outside of political experience to offer. Wake up people! Buhler can't win, and Wilson is not ready to be mayor. This race should be Becker and Christensen in the final.

It'd be a shame if voters write off Buhler because he's a moderate Republican. As Ted says, he's a good guy, and he really does have the experience to run the City. I can't imagine that the voters of SLC are so partisan as not to seriously consider which candidate is best for the job.

Has anyone noticed that most of Wilson's experience listed are made up jobs for her father when she was 16 and 21, etc.? She's not qualified to be mayor.

I'm glad to see Buhler and both Wilsons maintaining a cordial relationship with one another. There is too much bickering in local politics. When Buhler wins, and Wilson remains on the county council, it will make for a good relationship between those two important offices.

Sorry Stenar, How's this for experience? MPA (public administration) Harvard University; Three terms as Chief of Staff to Congressman; Volunteer Director SLC Olympics; Policy Director Utah Children; Salt Lake County Council; Sundance Institute Staff. Where have you been?

I don't care who wins, anyone on the planet is going to be better than Rocky Anderson--what an embarassment to the state of Utah.

After reading this article, you'd have to be a fool to vote for Wilson. Who would vote for someone who takes a poll to see if they have a good chance of winning? A professional politician. That's what is wrong with this country is we have professional politicians. A good candidate is one who runs even if he/she is the underdog because they believe in themselves and they feel passionately about their principles. Not this lady. Get rid of her!

I love how the media is already determining the "front runners" of this race. With about 20 to 25% of the voters in this city as undecided, I think it's foolish to call the shots this soon. Jenny Wilson is not ready. Ralph Becker is the right candidate to move us forward.

Mountaingoat, thanks for the rundown on Wilson.

Buhler's "Reasonable" ad campaign is little more than an attempt to separate himself from the current mayor, and promises nothing more than Utah politics as usual: We'll decide what's best for you behind closed doors; don't worry, we might even tell you what that is sooner or later.

Having personally discussed some local issues with Wilson a while back, I came away very impressed by her knowledge AND curiousity.

Everyone needs to dump this political rhetoric. The office of mayor is non-partisan. The mayor is not going to be making political decisions, rather administative. Vote for the best person (which is Buhler in my opinion.)

I've listen to Mr. Buhler in City Council meeting. He always condemns what he does not understand. I listen to him make inappropriate remarks on several subjects and wonder if the people who elected him would really want him representing them. He always seems ill prepared to me.

This race has 4 frontrunners, not 2! That is, of course, why we're having a primary in two weeks. I feel like the media has been trying to portray this race as simpler than it is -- the outcome of the primary depends very little on polls, and much more on who actually gets out the vote, because turnout is so low. Ralph Becker is in a great position -- his support is strong, he has over a decade of experience representing Salt Lake City, and he is a professional city planner. He is exactly what we need for the city.

No. Utah sees a major earthquake every 350 years. Last one? 350 years ago.
