Shocked is how I felt when I heard the news. I imagined the sorrow president
Hinckley must feel, loosing such a close friend, counselor, and confidant. I
felt pain for his family and how they will miss this gentle, loving man. And I
immediately thought of some of the most treasured messages I have heard from
president Faust in general conference: About a little lamb bleating in a
thunderstorm and a boy not wanting to get out of bed; about a grandmother
carrying her own wood for her fire and a man later feeling such shame for having
been so selfish; and about a son wanting a cheap toy but receiving an unwanted
ring instead. All seemed to carry the same thought: a humble recognition and
desire to be more sensitive to others. On my mission I learned from president
Faust one of the greatest lessons of life: "A sensitive conscience is the
sign of a health spirit." I have tried to live by those words. It has made
such a difference for me.

President Faust to me emulated something all of us desire to have more
of-compassion on others, and in an unspoken way pleaded for members of the
church to live their religion, repent of our sins, and learn how to forgive and
serve others. that seems to be a theme he carried through his life. Thank You
for giving us President Faust. thats the impact he has on me.

President Faust was a man who many loved and admired. He means a lot to the

President Faust spoke at my father's funeral. They were missionary
companions. My father was his trainer. He became our second father after
dads passing. I will treasure the letters, the memories, and the life of this
wonderful apostle.

I had the wonderful opportunity to meet Pres. Faust in 1976 during a mission
conference in Porto Alegre, Brazil. I will treasure that moment forever. His
son, Robert Faust was my zone leader back then.

I was honored to meet a dear sister who was Pres. Faust's daughter-in-law a
few years ago. I remember how she shared her love for her father. I always
loved to hear Pres. Faust speak and I loved his smile, but that day I began to
love and appreciate him for the awesome father he was. We are so very sorry for
the sadness and loss you must all be feeling and we thank you so much for
allowing this special man in your lives to be such a special man in all of our
lives.

He was a great and humble man. Not many people understand how beautiful and rare
that combination is. The life he led is a testimony of the Savior and President
Faust's great example of love will always touch my heart. May his family
receive great strength and faith at their time of great loss.

I echo all these comments of love and gratitude for Pres Faust! My love and
prayers also go out to his family. His gentle love and concern for all of us
has truly been felt by me. Many of his words have studk with me and I try to
change my life to be more in accordance with them.

I turn the BYU channel on each morning for devotional.Pres Faust just gave one
of the most meaningful talks of my life and then came the announcement of his
passing Your family is in my thoughts and prayers this day May the Savior

Pres. Faust is the first general authority with whom I had the opportunity to
shake hands. He came for a mission conference in St. Petersburg, Russia in
1993. His love and concern for the Saints and the missionaries was clearly
evident. The blessing he pronounced upon the people was unforgettable. He will
be missed.

I had the privilege of meeting President Faust at a funeral I performed in when
I was 10, and have always had a special place in my heart for him and the
messages he taught in the years since. I often reflect on his sweet, kind words
that day, and will miss his gentle messages in the years to come. Until we meet
again, I will miss him.

My bishop growing up was President Faust's body guard. We were blessed to
hear experiences our bishop had while in the presence of this great man. I feel
like I knew President Faust and was able to shake his hand on many occasions as
he visited our bishops family often. He will be missed. My heart goes out to
his family and friends. I know the entire church considered him a friend. I am
sure there is a great reunion in Heaven this morning. I hope I can live worthy
to shake his hand again someday...

I believe that sure that saints all over the world will miss President Faust but
I'm specially grateful for his service, leadership and love to the people
in Brazil. We love you Pres. Faust! Our prayers and thoughts go out to the

A gentle giant among men! I truly love President Faust, his example of
righteousness and his great teachings. Our lives have been blessed because of
him. I pray for all his family who miss him so much at this time. I'm
grateful for the testimony he shared so powerfully of life everlasting and the
love our Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ have for us. I will miss him
in conference but remember him always.

President Faust was and still is an awesome man.He new how to teach the gospel
in a way that many would be able to understand and put it in our lives.May we

What a great example he has been for our youth. After attending a General
Priesthood Session our youngest son once mentioned, "How can a man so old
know what a deacon needs to hear? He's gotta be a servant of the
Lord". All I could say was, "He is".

I met President Faust as a young missionary in Brazil when we had Thanksgiving
dinner with him in 1975. He shared stories and feelings and most importantly
his testimony with us. He has alwsys been one of my favorites. He will be
missed!

President Faust may best be remembered for the wonderful sermon on Forgiveness
given at the April 2007 General conference.

He was a great man called of God, he will be missed dearly, his testimony will
carry on, not only in this life but the next. I always enjoyed listening to him
speak at Conference. My life has been greatly blessed by his testimony and

deeply than Elder Faust's final conference address, "The Healing Power
of Forgiveness". Elder Faust was a wise, gifted, and insightful speaker.
But his messages carried meaning to me because of who he was - not jut what he
said. He seemed to be innately in tune with circumstances of our time, including
our need to repent, forgive and live the "Weightier Matters of the
Law". In that address, Elder Faust reminded us that,
" Jesus introduced a higher and more difficult standard of human conduct. It is simpler as well as more difficult because it focuses on internal rather than external requirements: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. 3 Love your neighbor as yourself. 4 When smitten, turn the other cheek. 5 When asked for a coat, give your cloak also. 6 Forgive, not just once but seventy times seven. 7 This was the essence of the new gospel. There was more emphasis on do than do not. More moral agency was given to each of us."

My deepest condolences and love to the Faust family during this time of
separation. President Faust lived a life worthy of emulation. May we always

I still remember President Faust's visit to our ward when I was a new
member. His closing, simple testimony of our savior Jesus Christ was so powerful
that I felt it like a physical presence and it brought tears to my eyes. Our

Elder Faust had a surpringly gentle way, a great grandfatherly influence of
wisdom and kindness. We found ourselves touched and influenced by his words. How
can this be? Perhaps it is because there is and was a certain noble goodness
about the man that endeared him to us. He influenced, taught, lifted us...in
ways we did not expect. We don't know much, but we know this man was a
servant, a godly man. We did not know him. He did not know us. Yet his influence
remains. And, so, we love him.

Pres Faust was a powerful influence in my life. He is a great man and I don not

I had just finished taking President Hinckley's portrait and was kneeling
down packing my gear up outside in the hallway when I felt a very strong hand on
my shoulder and then someone reached around and began stroking my beard in a
teasing fashion. I looked up to see President Faust smiling down at me. He
didn't say a word. But I said, yes I know I need to shave it off. And I
did. That was the type of man he was, gentle, yet persuasive. That was not my
only encounter with President Faust over the years, but certainly one of the
most memorable. I know he has left a lasting legacy with his poignant, inspiring
words and counsel. Our lives have been blessed because of him.

I first met President Faust at the Waterton Golf Club, Waterton Lakes, Alberta
when I was the summer pro there. He had come as a guest of Dr. Coombs who used
to come most summers. President Faust loved a good game of golf. It was an
absolute pleasure to have met such a quiet, unassuming, and spiritual man. We
stayed in contact over the years and he always answered my letters and cards. I
will miss him as will all members of the Church.

My heart and prayers go to Sister Faust and to your Family. President
Faust's last talk in April's conference was the boost I needed to take
care of a situation with my former husband that had been going on for 20 years.
During the talk, I e-mailed him and expressed to him my feelings and asked
forgiveness of anything I might have done to cause some of the difficulties.
The spirit so prompted me to write to President Faust, and after a week I
received a signed letter from him in return. A letter I will treasure always.
What an amazing Gospel we are a member of. Thank you Elder Faust for your love
and service to us all!

Is there any question Heaven is a LOT richer today? I know I am for the gift of
just meeting this gentleman once..isn't it a shame there's a lot of
people in this world that never knew this man..a kinder man I do not think could
exist...may his example...be our example!

I remember meeting President Faust on my mission in Taiwan in 1997. His words
were very inspiring and I still remember his message. What a great man! I will
miss him.

What a great example of Jesus Christ. He was and is truly humble and one of the
most non judgeing men out there. He had a quiet strength, and I loved his
conference talks-so sincere and said with such love. We will miss you, my
condolences go out to the family of this great man. What a blessing to know
that he is in heaven and for his family to know they are sealed to him for
eternity.

President Faust is a giant of a man and a wonderful leader and will always be
deeply appreciated for his faith and love and unbelievable example. We will
miss his wisdom but will remember him with our devotion to his lessons taught.
