Ex-LDS official arrested in sex-registry probe

I'm happy that men are being arrested for not registering. This will help Washington County be a safer place.

When does it ever end for a sex offender? California is now facing a special homeless problem since they will not allow them to live anywhere. Mr Lee was give 18 months probation, but it seems to have a life sentence attached. Should we at least make some allowance for the severity of the offense so as to concentrate on the most toublesome offenders. A troubled soul who is found guilty of exposing himself somehow doesn't seem to be in the same class as a brutal rapist. Can we, or should we try to register all of them forever?

In answer to Craig - when does it ever end for a victim? We have difficulty making a living due to long bouts of depression or thoughts of suicide, fear of walking down a street without some kind of protection, forget having a normal sexual relationship, and we're even forever 'afraid of the dark or things that go bump in the night'. Trust is often replaced with cynism or bitterness. Life sentences are normal consequences for victims, why not perps? If consequences to each victim could be measured and proof there would never be escalting behavior by the offender, by all means relax the standards until then, register them all forever.

There are victims and violators. If the violator has the ability to resolve their weakness - then the probation area should end. They should be able to resume some semblance of a regular life. Now, of course, the victim - as well can decide to put this behind them. I know - I was a victim. You have to decide that you are going to make a difference in your life or you are going to allow what has happened to you to be a crutch. It is sad the victim had to go through what they went through. But forgiveness should have a bearing on a second chance - both for the violator and the victim.

I have just looked into Mr. Lee due to the loss of a family member and started to look up his information. Then I thought I would try to find out if he registered as a sex offender and could not find his name anywhere listed in Utah. Is he still around? And if so why has he not registered?
