I can remember when my family joined the LDS Church back in 1962.
We owned a Grocery store with Gasoline and Dry goods and Liqueur. We were asked by the local Branch to let go of the Liqueur store which we did.

I'm A Mormon and have stayed at Marriot Hotels in the past. I was shocked when I discovered that they do in fact have hard core porn on demand in their rooms. I'd love to read the explanation and facts from Mitt and hope he would post it on his blog rather than have a lot of conjecture, speculation and possible misinformation continue to fly about.

To better understand the issue at stake, let's take another example: although pornography is legal and cocain is not, Leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints would consider that pornography is worse than cocain because of its potentially destructive effects on soul, families and society. Would Bill Mariott or Mitt Romney accept to collect dividends from the sale of cocain in the Mariott Hotel chain if it ever became legalized? If the answer is no, then they'd better reconsider owning shares of a hotel chain that promotes X-rated movies.

Marriot hotels also have coffee, tea and alcohol available. They also rent rooms to adulterous couples, unwed couples, homosexual couples, and I'm sure a paid sex worker or two. ALL will likely have sexual relations in their beds.

I happen to disagree with porno. taints what it touches. Its not being able to be open about or ashamed about it that I think is dangerous. I think it is actually helpful in a marriage or just for learning about things you cant talk to anyone about. I am female and I used to be terrified of it. But when my first marriage failed due to no intimacy and not knowing how to communicate about it. In this marriage theres nothing we cant be honest or real about and I love that he doesnt have to hide it. Its a beautiful thing and Im tierd of all the bad stuff about it . Im a wife and I am moral and I love our intimacy. Most marriages fail in my opinion because they cant talk about all the details of sex without feeling like a freak. Leave people alone about its between the creater and themselves. I dont see evil in it,

After reading the comments left since I last visited I wish to say, I feel they miss the point.
The local church back in 1962 that I joined did not deny that we have "free agency". The idea is, do we wish to activate our free agency in the promotion of their debauchery.

I flew into Salt Lake this year and stayed at a Marriott for all the right reasons. I was alone and flipped the TV on while I got myself organized for bed. Over the TV a voice came and I do not recall exactly what she said but something like "Want to heat up your night?" and then an invitation to "check her out". Over and Over and Over and Over as I got my things in order. Is that fair marketing? Sex is great, fun and a natural healthy desire within relationships but pornography represents nasty unkind and sometimes a violent perspectives on sex with no intimacy which really is the best part. I felt at the time men of all ages would have difficulty resisting the temptation and even some woman. The real sad part for me is I was there to meet with a therapist regarding a couple of my close family member's pornography addiction. YES, it is addictive. Relationships are suffering and Marriott should care about their guests enough to keep porn out of their rooms.
