I am not sure what the problem is here. Isn't public education intended to fund the child's education, not educational institutions? And why are public school advocates fearful of giving parents a choice?
Our educational system has a significant problem when education officials fear a mass exodus from public schools should parents have the opportunity to determine the environment where their children have the greatest opportunity to learn. Those education officials must not have confidence in the product they are delivering. That is reason enough for concern.
Additionall, parents and taxpayers fund education.
Those education dollars should follow the child, and the parents should determine the educational setting where their children are to learn, and where those education dollars are to go.
Good teachers will fare better when children and parents have choices. Anything less infringes on the freedoms we Americans value.
Parents are trusted with making decisions regarding their childrens food, health care, shelter and clothing. Education certainly deserves the priority that choice provides.
