Cinco de Mayo celebrations run all weekend

I think someone needs to educate the hispanic comunity of the United States about cinco de mayo and what it really is. Living in a 90% hispanic comunity i have found that only 5% know what it is.

Maybe the United States just needs to get rid of this celebration.

I agree with the education part, but let's keep the holiday anyway. Is it any more silly than all the hoopla surrounding Columbus Day, St. Patrick's Day and the Chinese New Year? In Mexico, this is largely a non-event except in Puebla and things done for the American tourists, but since we are Americans, celebrating this relatively insignificant military victory is probably more appropriate than celebrating Mexican independence. In the end, they're all good excuses for us all to celebrate one of the many origins of our diverse national heritage.

Looks like you're the one that needs the education Bill. Here in the U.S. we spell "comunity" like this...'Community'.
