'Lost Boys,' other FLDS teens lobby lawmakers

Hello,

After reading this article, I find it very distubing, upsetting, and alarming, in that these young people are left by themselves, at a time when parental examples and quality time speak volumes. Especially at a time when troubling teenage issues are more prone to occur!!!

I do not understand how this activity by the parents are allowed to happen.

Is this not abandonment &/or neglect on the parents part?? (where these teens/children are driven/dropped off at St. George or wherever by the fathers?

Why do the lawmakers not press charges against the parents?? I understand that Warren Jeffs, according to former flds members on his compound, say that Jeffs pretty much owns the mayor/homes/properties/etc.

I can't believe that this is America, and this kind of politics continues to thrive!!

Why are the parents NOT held responsible or accountable for their actions (other than to Warren Jeffs?)

I'm interested to know the stats as to how many of these teens/children are ever reported "as missing" by the parents-once they're noticed missing? Is it not a parents job to know where their children are?
And to LOOK for them if they are in fact missing?

I would really like to hear the truth about the whys of this activity.....

Even birds treat their offspring better than this!!

The Mormon Chruch is known for taking care of their own. Why hasn't one of the richest church's (LDS) stood up and taken care of these children who are Mormons?

The LDS church has a member running for President (Romney) it surely needs to show other Americans that the church takes care of their own. And another why question, why hasn't the LDS church done something about all the birth defects from the FLDS church?

The FLDS group claims they believe in the fundamental doctrines of the LDS church yet the fundamental belief of polygamy was probably practiced in part to help widows of war, and death and their children(caused by the discrimination against the mormon pioneers who had to travel in the harsh winter across the U.S. on foot to ensure their safety from other people who would kill and persecute them) yet this fundamentalist church is appears to be using polytgamy to justify the opposite, they are abandoning rather than bringing them in to support them. For this reason I say this practice of polygamy as we see it today was never a practice nor a doctrine of the LDS church headquartered in Salt Lake, nor will it ever be.

I am amazed. There are no words to describe the tragedy that is the neglect and abuse of children. Abandonment! Plain and simple. Let me tell you something... anyone of these "lost boys" or lost kids period, boy or girl are more than welcome in my home. Someone has to take responsiblity for these young people. If it takes an outsider, than it takes an outsider.

I agree that these parents, not just the leaders, need to be prosecuted. From child rape to abandonment, these FLDS folks are truly torturing the massive numbers of children that they have. They need to be shut down and prosecuted. Freedom of religion does not mean freedom to continuously abuse and abandon these poor children. I can't believe that it has been allowed to go on for so long. Isn't this the land of the free?
