Author calls 'heightism' last prejudice

I can never understand growth hormone treatment these people need their head read.It is wrong for the parents to decide it on behalf of their kids.We are all different dont worry who is tall and short.I mean i was the shortest out of my family of 6 kids i would never have wanted to take it.The parents are the ones that are judgemental.If their kids are going to be short then so be it.JUST DEAL WITH IT.All they are doing is getting their kids to reach their height quickly it doesnt necessary mean that they will be taller.So think about it.

I am a s.s male with a height of 4'8 i am even shorter than Ellen.I am 55 yrs old and so far have lost a little of my height.I usually say 4'8 has that is what i have been most of my life.I did have a doctors check-up who say my height is 4'7 and half.I have always been the shortest in any group and feel that i have struggled all my life with my height.I come from a family where my mum is 5'6 and dad 4'9.I am the oldest my brother is also on the short side his height is 4'8 with just the edge on me still.We have 2 sister's one is 5'7 and the youngest out of all of us is 5'9.It didnt bother the guys that we were short i mean when we are together it is brilliant to be with other's this short.Our sister's never made our height a problem.Mum used to always say she loved dad the way he was height included.When we were younger we used to look at the wedding pic's of them and he stood out like a sore thumb.

being a short female has it's ups and down.My height since 9 yrs old is 4'6.To this day i am still the same height and 36 yrs old.I am the shortest in my family no one is near to me.My mum took me to the g.p to be checked out and he tried his hardest to help.Nothing worked so i have had to accept it.I have 5 nieces and nephews who are all taller and all under 12 yrs old.When they were younger they were always asking question like why was i shorter than my sister's and brother's.They were explainned has to why i didnt grow has much.I just tell people that me being the youngest they all took the height gene and left me with nothing.I have a very good friend who is 5'6 and when we go out she is always on hand to help with things.Being the only short person indoors doest help me.I could never borrow their clothes anyway.I do however feel that h.g should be given to extremely short people.I wouldnt have minded being 5'0 at least.I suppose 6 ins is abit too much to wish for never mind hey.

I live in England and i reached a height of 4'10 and am 21 yrs old.I have a twin sister who ended up reached 5'7 due to her having all the nutrients while in the womb.We have just celebrated our 21st birthday together at a club.Guess who got stopped at the door yes you have guessed it me.My sister argued that we were twins but that didnt wash.In the end we were let in.I tried to get a seat at the bar so i was out of the way of the mad tall people pushing and shoving.I just managed to climb on it has it was pretty high.I have always been ridiculed with my height people picking fights did help.Even my dad was pretty hard on me for being shorter than my sister.She always stood up to him while i just took it has he was over a foot taller than me.Mum was good and did her best to accept it has nothing could be done anyway.Okay i may come up to 12 yr old's shoulders but it is fine.I would'nt have taken the h.g injections anyway why put yourself through pain i wouldnt accept it and live.

I am an achon l.p my height is 4.5 compared to some others i am slightly taller.I would have liked a little help with my height for the simple reason that this world is not made for l.p.My mum and dad are average height i have a brother who is 5'7 and a sister who is also a l.p she is 4'2.My age is 24 and my sister is 21.I think that my sister really could have had abit of help with g.h even to be like my height.When we go shopping we get stared at all the time i buy clothes for 7 yr olds and still have to be adjusted.My poor sister is even shorter and my mum alters all her clothes.We dont even try them on in the shops we usually get out mum to buy the clothes which we pay for has it is really weird being started at.I think g.h should be given to people below 4'9 so it doesnt discriminate alot of people.Obviously it is too late for us to change our height but helping the l.p being born should get some help.I feel sorry for the primordial dwarfs which is a shame.

I am Stella's sister and i know that i am younger than her but it would have been good if i was her height.I have had kids come up measuring themselves to see if they are taller than me.I mean 9/10 they are taller this is usually kids 6 yrs old.We do have a nan who is 4'10 also my aunt who is 5'0.I agree that i would have liked to have been taller than what i am.I am also suffering with my back problem and on some days i am hunched over thus making me under 4'0 on some days.I can never use anything outside if i want to draw money out of atm's it is impossible my mum helps me.They do have a disabled one inside some banks which is better for us.I cant stand it where i am standing inline to be served and i just get looked over.I understand it would be a pretty boring place if everyone is the same height but surely then we wouldnt be discriminated against everything we have to do.I and Stella used to cry non stop when we were younger and being tormented by other kids.

I am the father of a lp she is such a wonderful girl never letting anything get in her way.Sam has just got on with her life she is 12 yrs old and only 4'7.In her school there is 2 younger people also lp's they are both slightly shorter than her.She takes time to look after them has they get picked on.I would have liked to try to help her get some kind on treatment for her height but the doctor checked it out only to turn her down.When she talks to us she is so ful of wisdom and her knowledge is fantastic.Her main worries are that she cant get any decent clothes for her size and gets upset.The shoes she wears are only a size 8 in kids.I have caught her trying on her sisters clothes and shoes and getting annoyed and crying.Her sister is 5'10 and her shoes have a 2 inc heel.The last time i caught her she said LOOK DAD WOULDN'T IT BE NICE IF I WAS THIS TALL.She even had me in tears has some kids at school can be really nasty to her about her height she just says she is a lp.

I am an adult male 45 years old and a height of 4'9.Growing up was more of a problem for me i was always tormented by people my age.I remember having an end of school dance and thinking who shall i take.I ended up taking a good friend Monica she was abit apprehensive about going with me because she was 5'9 tall.I mentioned it was only a dance so we went together.When we did the last dance it was a slow one and people laughed has we danced together i had my head nestled under her breasts.After the dance a friend said to me how was it and i said for a laugh that the view was just great when i looked up slightly.After school we used to meet up for the odd date but she ended marrying a tall guy over 6'0 which suited her.I ended up marrying a woman who is 5'3.To me that is ideal has anyone else i asked shorter than that always said NO.I can handle the height difference even when she wears heels she can be about 8/9 ins taller.Even all our kids are taller than me which is quite funny for them hey.

I am also the oldest out of my younger siblings.All our ages are 2 years difference.So i am 62 years old now.Growing up was fine has there were other shortish people at school.I am just glad i wasnt a child now at school i think it could have been terrible.While growing up there just wasnt any help for short people.I was taken to the hospital for checkups.When the doctor went through the family history my mum came up with 2 grandparents who were also shortish.Apparently my mum's mum was 5'0 and my dad's dad was only 4'11.They were both married to tall people.I remember leaving school at 15 and starting work in a factory i was told to stay away from certain parts of the factory because it was a height restricted area.I married Gerald who was around my height 5'0.I used to wear shoes that were 2 ins high which took me to his height when we went out.We have a 3 children.

Hi i am Ishmail i am a rather short male.I now live in England after coming from India.I am 56yrs old and 4'4.My parents are both short mum is 4'1 and dad 4'3.I have Sasha she is 4'0 then comes Noreta she is 3'8.Last come my brother Mustapha he is 4'2.I left my parents and came with my brother and sisters.Even to this day we all live near each other in Newcastle.When we first came over this was 20 years ago now things were hard.All of us just stood out and were abused by the people.Our first house was adjusted for our heights this was done by the council so we didnt have to pay a penny.It was mainly due to Noreta has she was the shortest.I am the only one still living in this hous.My brother and sisters married and moved out.They have partners that are quite tall.They are 5'6, 5'5 and 5'3.Well compared to my siblings they are tall.I married Jerimina she is 4'10 we also have rather short kids which is a shame but we all managed in our house that is built for us all.I would have loved to have been taller it wasnt to happen.

I would have loved a choice as to weather or not i could have growth hormone.I mean it isnt nice being has short has i am.I am 18 years old and my height is 3'9.My twin sisters are average height and 21 years old and 5'7.My brother is 6'2 and 25 years old.Mu mum knew something was wrong when i was 4 years old.I could walk and talk but was quite short.I had tests at the hospital and diagnosed has being an achon dwarf.Where i live there is no one similar to me so i am not as confident has my family.My mum goes everywhere with me she feels she has to protect me.I remember a couple of years back and passing a primary school with my mum i was 15 at the time.The school teacher shouter to my mum IS SHE COMING INTO SCHOOL NOW WE ARE JUST GOING IN.My mum replied SHE ACTUALLY GOES TO THE SECONDARY SCHOOL.I was actually the same height has the 7 years olds.The worse day for me was being told i will never be over 3'10.Which i am proud to say he was right.I bet he is has pleased has me hey.

I am a short male 4'8 tall i am lucky enough to be married to my wife Jennifer.We are both 50 now and the only difference is our height she is 5'3.I usually say she is a giant compared to me.I mean she is a good 10 inches when she wears her high heels.I dont mind though as i have always been short anyway.We have twin girls who are identical and have the same height they are both 30 now and their height is 5'0.We also had 2 boys they are 25 and 28 they ended up being 5'4 and 5'1.I mean we knew we wouldnt have giants in the family.Our daughters both married guys taller than themselves.Whereas our sons only Bobby has married he is the taller guy,he found a lovely short woman who was 4'11.Jaimie has a woman but not married yet he found it much more difficult being shorter and he lives with Julie who is 5'6.Apart from that everything is good.My daughter used to say years ago while growing up wouldnt i have liked to have been taller.I used to say of course wouldnt anyone i would never take g.h.t stick with what you have.

I am a woman with a height of 4'10 and i am married to a guy 4'11.We have a son who is 4'8 and 22 yrs old.We then have a daughter who is 5'3 she is 20 yrs old.Followed by Jake he is 4'7 and 17 yrs old.Our daughter actually is the same height of my mum so we know where she gets her height.The 2 boys got their height from us.Now our daughter has no end of guys after her.Our 2 boys cant seem to find woman.I know that they are still young but they get so upset when they get turned down.When they were growing up the boys used to get very angry and say why they are shorter than their friends.We could only tell the truth and say it is due to our height.The worse moment for them was being tormented by school children when their younger sister grew taller than them.We all thought that the boys would be just has tall has their sister what it wasnt to be.Our sons didnt even bother going to their en of school disco has they could find dates.Only their sister managed to find a guy who was okay.

Coming from a short family didnt help me at all.I am 19 years old and 4'11.I buy all my clothes in the junior dept in shops.Sometimes i get laughed at by children.If my mum buys me something i have to have it taken up.My shoe size is also a nightmare i am only a size 3.My parents are both 5'3 and 5'2.I have a sister who is 5'8 and is 16 years old even she outgrew my dad.I am the same height has my cousin who is 11 years old.He finds it funny when people get us to measure up together.I do have a cousin who is 22 years old and she is 4'10.When younger i used to pray like crazy to be tall but nothing worked.My sister thought it was good to be the taller out of all of us.The last family photo was a big shock to me we had my sister at the back standing next to me then mum and dad last.So the height went from 5'8, 4'11,5'2 then 5'3.Being older and shorter than my sister wasnt good i mean she can be nearly a foot taller in heels which she revels in i must say
