Greetings from San Francisco. Hats off to an ambitious project, I fell for SLC's interesting downtown with it's many beautiful buildings sometime before the Olympics and was swept away by the potential for a grand boulevard along the South Temple street. The two memorable shortcomings were that most of the jewels of the city were in the temple square, which felt somehow like a theme park, not in any disrespectful way, but it was the only walkable area. Such large city blocks. The more recent architecture didn't seem to reflect the dramatic mountains and weather, or local materials such as copper. SLC seems to have the potential to create something great, something logical and urbane, a healthy rival to Portland, the only greatly planned city in the west. I wish SLC the best and hope the city becomes the best it can be.
