KCPX's former 'Big 13 Team' has get-together

I listened to these guys all the time when I was growing up in a small town called Gardiner in Montana!! They all fostered my love of 70's music!! I owe it all to them. I still have my 45 record of Skinny's called Pres. Board and Jimmy Smarter with the flip side being The First Annual Streak In. I love these guys.

No mention of The Night Rider (Johnny Rider). KCPX had a great team in the 70's. I couldn't wait to get home form school to listen them. Met many of them at personal appreances (school dances and such). They were all fun guys to chat with and you could tell they appreciated there fans. Best to all of them.

I just heard from a friend that former announcer John benson of KCPX 1320 had passed away.Maybe this was in 2008 or early 2009. Does anyone know about this?

What great memories seeing the "Big 13" disc jockeys again. I remember "Skinny" Johnny Mitchell's battle of the songs each night, the Lehmann Lemon Awards, Wooly Waldron in the afternoons, Johnny Rider "The Night Rider", Rex Waldron, Bill Terry, "This is Joe Lee reporting", the year-end Top 100 countdowns, AT-40 every Sunday morning from 9:00 to 12:00, and the great jingles. I never realized that KCPX and KHJ in Los Angeles used the exact same music bed for their jingles for so many years. But Kay-Pix was a great top-40 station to grow up with.

the jingles were done by the Johnny mann singers.. they did ton's of them for different stations.. Gary made all of this happen. He started at knak, and took the best to kcpx. he also ran stereo x. in that date and time all was ran on a igm system. It had two trays that would take (carts) 4 track and also a diverse system, with 6 reel to reel .all worked well. at night from 7 till midnight. skip ward would be live on f.m. other than that all was tape in that era. I still have the original tape of the big 13 on pauls death.(beatles) I here there are copy's?also john rider charged up a ton for calling to london .. on the beatles stuff. I will check put about benson, he was in charge of vending machines last time I talked to him. 2 years ago. (the big 13)
