What is so confusing in the Mormon religion is what might be called the before and after effect of motherhood. Experienced by most women is the confusing status that honors women's work as mothers, but prevents them from finding any other "calling" as men are encouraged to do.

If women were perpetually pregnant, that might be acceptable, but God made women so that they have a beginning and an end time for pregnancy, and the rest of their lives must therefore involve finding and pursuing a "calling" as men do.

Otherwise, life for women except as baby incubators doesn't make sense and cannot be valued otherwise.

Pat's comment doesn't really make sense but she is entitled to her or his opinion.Sorry Pat Mormon mothers hold jobs and callings as God deems fit for not only them but the entire family.
