Why I teach

I thought this was just beautiful and quite uplifting to those of us who teach and who are at times a little overwhelmed. I teach because I love children and believe every child has a right to learn as much and go as far as he or she is capable.

Gosh, this came at the right time. There are times I think I am going to go crazy w/ all I have to do. Its good to know that I am not alone! By the end of the day I collapse but I know that I would miss all my kids if I ever left.

As a first year teacher I have been doing more and more pondering of how I ever wound up teaching. As a student myself I did not like school, did not turn in homework, did not listen to most teachers who were trying to help me, and to top it off, usually tried my hardest to get the better of a teacher in front of his or her own classroom. Like any good story now the tides have changed and I am in the role of an educator be challenged by the newest waves of, �little Tommy�s." With cell phones and my-space accounts and students controlling their parents, this new generation of students is proving to be very challenging and making myself ask, why do I teach�? When I think of this, only one word comes to mind. This one word is only as powerful as you make it, but for me it is my kryptonite. The word is "INSPIRATION" live it, love it, preach it, because as a teacher that�s all I can be, I am "Inspiration." So put a good song in your head, I recommend- "kick start my heart" and begin to INSPIRE!!!!!!!!!!!
