Sheri Dew: Living the unexpected life

That was a great article. I have often wanted to know more about Sheri Dew. I love her! She is a great woman and an inspiration to all LDS women.

I heard her speak recently and wanted to know more about her. Great article.

I had heard that she had gotten married recently. Is that correct information?

I also heard from a friend of a friend of a friend (not always a good source of truth:-) ) of hers that she did get married recently. How could we find out?

No, she's not married:( She was in Orlando this weekend speaking to the members of several stakes. I absolutely love her! She is incredibly amazing!

I have been married for 30 years with 6 six children, and I have to say Sheri Dew has been extremely inspiring to me. My daughter is 29 and unmarried and I look up to her. I always say she will be the next Sheri Dew as they seem to have much the same characteristics and both try to do the Lord's will while accepting what is dealt them.

Sheri wonders why people love her so much? Just like the article said. "She is a pure honest human being." What more would anyone want to be?

I just watched her on TV speaking about President Hinckley (the funeral is today) and she is such a wonderful person.

Sheri Dew is an exceedingly accomplished, multi-talented, personable, amazing PERSON regardless of her gender! If she were a man, there would not be the intense, relentless interest in her unmarried status. In one article about her life which was, probably, intending to be reassuring and kind about her singleness as a Latter-day Saint, there was a statement saying that, no doubt, she was being held in reserve for Ammon. Casting no dispersions on Ammon, why is it felt that anyone has the right to make Sister Dew defend herself as to why she is unmarried. I am not a 'Feminist' per se but, perhaps, Ammon is being held in reserve for her! In 2008, shouldn't society be beyond relegating people to stereotypes and molds? What a life changing woman. I have always heard about this woman and her tireless work for the lord, but I just got the chance to meet her at a meeting in Rexburg. She is more amazing than I had even heard (I didn't think that was possible). She inspired me and changed my life. I will never forget her words when I told her she was my new hero. She immediately told me that I needed to aim higher than her. At the moment when someone is pouring their gratitude toward her (when it would be easiest to take credit), she makes sure to give glory to our Heavenly Father. Absolutely an Amazing messanger and "True Follower".

I just finished one of her books (just wonderful words) and I realized how down to earth she is yet her focus is on the Lord and Our Heavenly Father. What a wonderful example for all women throughout the world to see and hear a daughter of God testifying of truth and to encourage us to be steadfast and unmovable. Her teachings and her lifestyle is for many of us an example of how we as daughters of God can and need to be steadfast and inmoveable. How wonderful that she is sharing her gifts with us.

This article is still getting attention. She is a fantastic person and perfect role model for all women everywhere. Her marriage has evidently been postponed to allow her to serve and teach all of us. I love her forthright manner, amazing wisdom, and no-nonsense style. My hat's off to you, Ms. Dew.

I am a Y.S.A living in New Zealand and I heard Sister Dew speak at our national Y.S.A conference earlier this year. She was wonderful! I could have listened to her speak for 3 days non-stop.
I just beam on the inside when I'm encouraged by righteous people, particularly by righteous women.

I often find myself expressing gratitude in my prayers that there are good woman alive today. I hope the Lord's women never stop speaking, I shudder to think where I would have to look for examples if not to them.

Many times in life we look at those who are successful and are well known and say "Oh my they live this perfect life, and have it all" We think that they never struggle anymore, that they could not possibly see what you are going through. With Sheri Dew it is refreshing to see that she is real, she still takes one day at a time as she has her down time just like the rest of us. When we take our eyes off the celebrity and look at the person we truly see she is just a beautiful daughter of our Heavenly Father just like us women. She uses the talents she has been given to truly just "GLORIFY OUR LIVING GOD" For that I do admire her. What a sweet and wonderful lady she is. God's purpose for her is being fulfilled in more ways than our worldly eyes can see. Great job Sherri... You are a great example of following the Lord no matter what.

My guess is she isn't married because Mormon men are afraid of her. Mormon men want to be the "authority" and are probably intimidated by a woman who is more successful and intelligent than they are. Just a guess.

What an incredible example. The words sound trite, but they really are true. Unmarried for some time (it seemed to me), I gained strength from watching and listening to Sister Dew. Now married and having the challenges of marriage and motherhood, I still draw consistently from the wisdom the Lord has taught through her, especially through "Are We Not All Mothers?" (a talk she gave in the Sept 2001 General Relief Society meeting). Thanks, Sister Dew, for relying on the Spirit and being real. Reading this article has inspired me once again, waking me up to the why of challenges we never expected and disappointments (i.e., opportunities) we may never have chosen.

I greatly appreciate Sister Dew. She has inspired my life in her talks and lectures. I honor and respect womanhood, always have, as that is what my mother taught me as a youth. If the Lord would grant that this special daughter of his would agree in due process, I should be honored to ask her to be my wife.
