Ever since I saw God's Army, which I liked very, very much, and subsequently purchased, I have been interested in Richard Dutcher, the serious older missionary and riveting character he played in such a superior story which he evidently wrote and directed as well....I always thought that those who did not like the movie had probably never experienced any spiritual experiences or they wouldn't have criticized such a great movie.

Now that I see that he has produced another, "Falling", which evidently has a somewhat darker side, and am also hearing that he has become inactive in his LDS faith, my interest in him has been renewed...I couldn't wait to read more about him and what has made him turn from his LDS faith. I was so glad to read such a long, comprehensive article about his childhood, conversion, family life struggles and so forth. I think I see now why he has such depth that some main-line Mormons just can't understand. I would like to know where to contact him, if that would be a possibility, to thank him for his work and for his continued perseverance in his beloved and chosen field. Thank you for this article.

Richard Dutcher, creative force behind "God's Army" and "Brigham City," wants to tell "Mormon stories," not offend his key audience.
