Twenty minutes into a news conference, you needed a "TV cameraman" to ask the question that you would later spend all of this time blogging about?

Maybe Boylen and Whittingham can offer a new elective credit class to their student-athletes and call it "Ambivolence and Hypocrisy 101". They can talk about how it is fair and appropriate for them or their players to run their mouths but the opponent does not have that right. They can discuss fake punts when you're blowing out your opponent, and giving up an open dunk in the closing seconds of a close game. Oh, and for extra credit they can share how to effectively and successfuly hide any sense of defense in the closing minutes of a football game (see Utah vs BYU 2006 and 2007).

Just another show of evidence that the U has a serious case of "little man" syndrome. Heath Schroyer is the one who deserve the apology, after going for a respectful handshake and being met with a profanity-laced tyrade by Boylen. C'mon Hill, get your immature coach to apologize, it's the right thing to do. Boylen is a jerk, and he certainly isn't making friends in the conference, which is going to make it much harder for him to become a consistent winner, what with everyone he's ticked off coming after his teams 110%. As a Cougar fan, this should be fun to watch!
With class? | 3:08 p.m. Mar. 4, 2008
His actions after the past few games have been exactly the opposite of class. Blame the refs, blame the opposing coach for dunking on your team, blame, blame, blame, swear, swear, swear. Telling someone else they run a classless program isn't classy.

Good for Boylen. The man has passion and he isn't afraid to show it. He will turn the program around, he just needs some time to fix what Giac has done.

For a guy who likes to perpetuate the idea that he developed strength and courage through tough life experiences, he certainly isn't the standard bearer for those of us who did.
Many thanks to Johnnie Bryant, who stuck with the U in the face of coaching deficiencies, to his athletic detriment. He has shown great character in the face of obstacles created by poor judgment and intellectual limitations on the part of U of Utah coaches and ultimately the AD.
As a Utah alum and an out of state fan please rally for the release of Chris Hill before the choices he has made, and consequences, end the recruitment of quality people and athletes from outside of Utah.
It is not about the men and women who make too much money doing what they only do, creating a mystique that will pay more. It's about doing your best and taking reponsibility for your inability to do so. Not at the expense of those who out coach you or the players you did not recruit. It's not about you Boylen, even though the culture perpetuated by Hill may give you that idea.

Supporting Boylen | 10:23 a.m. Mar. 4, 2008
You know what really bothers me about fans like the ones who are posting here? Ignorance and impatience.
You Ute fans who are here calling Coach Boylen a clown, etc. would totally support him on this issue if the team were winning right now. Get over yourselves and give the guy and his passion a chance. Would you rather have someone who speaks his mind and cares as much as he does about his team and the game?
Or would you rather have someone who basically gives up when things aren't going his way ... because that's what we had the previous two years. Get off the guy's back and let's give him at least as much time as Ray had before you start working on the Fire Boylen websites.
Shut up and get out to the Huntsman Center tonight and support our three seniors!

Class? | 9:02 a.m. Mar. 4, 2008
What a hypocrite! Who makes a scene at the last play of the game when your team doesn't play defense, then blames the other coach for it, then says one of the worst words you can to a coach a few times, saying the opponent has no class, then has the GUTS to say he runs a program filled with class? Totally disgusting! Wyoming has a new rival, and it's totally just.
Loser! | 8:49 a.m. Mar. 4, 2008
WOW: Boylen studied the Wyoming tape and determined that Schroyer never asked his team to pull the ball out at the end of the game. Why doesn't Boylen spend his time more productively -- such as figuring out why he gets outcoached in close games? I'm tired of his mouth, his act and his behavior. Time for Chris Hill to step in and help the rookie bully change his ways . . . or find someone else to actually "coach" the team.
Wow, Jim | 8:39 a.m. Mar. 4, 2008
Good grief. This from the institution that had an onside kick when leading 43-0? What does it matter. Boylen seems to be losing it. He's actually worse PR-wise than Majerus. And that's saying a lot.
I could see all this if they dunked leading by 20 points, but in a relatively close game, what does it matter? Buy the guy some prozac.

Bawlin' | 8:38 a.m. Mar. 4, 2008
Seriously Jim - get a freaking clue. Play the game and quit your whining! Win the games at HOME and you don't have to worry about it. "they're so mean, they dunked on us at the end of the game...they don't respect me or the game...wah, wah, wah"
This guy really is wearing out his welcome.

Grow up Boylen | 8:02 a.m. Mar. 4, 2008
There is no defense for Boylens reaction. If this is how he behaves he will never run a program with class. In fact he's already driving it into the ground. There will be plenty of other things that will happen that will be a lot worse than getting dunked on visiting someone elses gym. Boylen you are embarrassing the leauge, go back to the Big Ten.
Boylen = Clown | 2:27 a.m. Mar. 4, 2008
Are you serious Jim? C'mon man. It is truly turned into amateur hour up on the hill. How does Hill stand by and allow this guy to dig himself a deeper hole.
Boylen has done nothing but run his mouth since he got the job. He's been completely over the top. This situation typifies his regime to a T. His antics will not be appreciated by this fan base. If he couldn't win with this team, next year will get ugly. Johnnie Bryant has bailed his team out of several near misses.
He loses 4 games in a row, and he wants to belly ache about a dunk at the end of the game? I am truly embarased to be a Ute fan! How about winning a game Coach?
