Jeffrey Nielsen's "My View" ("Here are reasons I am a Democrat," Dec. 27) is an extreme example of self-delusion and Alice in Wonderland redefinition of terms over experience.

Ruinous ideals

I read Jeffrey Nielsen's My View column ("Here are reasons I am a Democrat," Dec. 27). Nielsen, who is a philosopher, describes the Republican Party as having a "selfish moral philosophy with few genuine solutions." His description is interesting because the conservatives he criticizes voluntarily give far more to charitable causes than his liberal brethren. Liberals, of course, are far better at giving away other people's money.
