Utah quarterbacks post Alex Smith
Started in place of the injured Johnson on Nov. 19, 2005, during a memorable 41-34 overtime defeat of BYU in Provo. He threw four touchdown passes and scrambled for 112 yards and one touchdown. He threw for four more TDs in The Utes' bowl win over Georgia Tech before becoming the principal quarterback in 2006.
